I totally disagree. To me....finding the pattern change is way easier than finding black mark.

    ropes

All good advice. I had to choose from a Mammut one color 70m or a Maxim bi-color 70m. Both same price. Mammut are the best ropes IMO. I dont know that much about Maxim. At the end of the day, want a bi-colored rope.

That is what I thought until I saw the $300 price tag.

Do you prefer double colored ropes which are pricey or a black mark marking the center? Does the black mark rub off? Is it woven in?

  10. "Ice Climbing is NOT rock climbing" No shit. Who thinks that? Holy cow what a fall.
  11. I hope your friend will heal up and be climbing soon. As far at the cutting of the stump.....just do it and dont ask the community. You will get a ton of yes's and no's. At the end of the day you just need to make a decision. We already kill trees to build roads, what is another stump going to matter? Obviously be a good steward of the forest and pack out your trash. I am sure someone cleaned off the moss and dirt to establish the climb in the first place. What is the difference?
  12. Why dont you spend it with your family?

Well, we were going to put it in Nevada, until that effort got shut down. What are the other options that you see for stable, efficient, on-demand power sources that can meet the needs of densely populated areas? Coal / natural gas /oil - Still waste, just most of it is loose in the atmosphere. Wind / Solar - wonderful to supplement, but isn't really on-demand, and not available everywhere. Great in wyoming, but I wonder if it would meet the needs of the east coast? Might be more viable if we can figure out how to store the energy more effectively. Hydro - wonderful out west (screw the fishies!) but not available everywhere Ocean / Tidal - gaining momentum, but not there yet. Fusion - great idea, seems to be perpetually 20 years out. At least with nuclear we usually have all the waste contained and accounted for. I always thought breeder reactors were a great idea. Burn the fuel, turn the non-fuel into fuel, and burn it some more. Thanks but that really did not answer the question. The half life for most nuclear waste is 24,000 years. Do we bury it? Shoot it into space?

A question for all those who think nuclear is the way. What do we do with the waste?
