fair enough, although i'd question the reality of any jackboot on your neck. balance this vision with a list of 10 positives in your life! after all, there really is a lot to be grateful for. i do believe it's not only possible but very desirable to maintain emotional and intellectual clarity and balance when working towards justice. but that's just me, informed certainly by my own experiences, and exposure to various individuals and schools of thought.

Thanks for the clarification inre "worry". no you do not seem worried. but perhaps some element of "worry" prompts your investment scenarios? lol let's talk about the psychology of "worry", shall we? yes was alluding to real estate. and yes, some personal interest is needed, lest it become "work" (and a looming bankruptcy).

i think it speaks more to their myopic vision and spirituality and, as such, might elicit pity and empathy more than agitation.

we live more so in a world of mis-allocation than scarcity. to correct: mis-allocation would be the diagnosis if one thinks that indeed the existing massive inter-nation and inter-individual wealth disparities are what lead to the situations mentioned above somewhere.

am i correct in surmising from your tone that you are quite upset with JayB?

my glibly stated point was that there are other places to park capital- besides into the hands of those you alluded to- places where one would probably receive more than a few percentage points of interest off a depleting investment. but, your strategy is probably fine as long as you love your work! In which case you wouldn't be worrying so much about "retirement".

like, oh my gawd you're right.

then why the allusions to great largesse some odd years ago? perhaps you felt threatened by dwayner's PhD? or serenity's kung fu skills? lol

hmmm. your initial post regarding projected returns sounded a little more authoritative than simply being info gleaned from some on-line wealth-o-meter. my hope is that your general political analyses do not follow a similar process of development? (I would argue that most people's do....) having said that, it would be interesting to know the particulars of said party's actual finances. I think anyone who claims financial independence automatically generates some interest in the particulars.

where do you come up with this?

Hmm - seem to remember something about being a chief technical officer of some concern or another and making enough money to quit working and "do whatever the fuck I want" being bandied about some time ago - but I don't care enough to bother searching for the said claims. yeah i kinda recall the same thing. not that it matters (except for credibility issues, but whatever, attention is a good thing, right?). But back to the relevant issue: DEM REVOLT!

oh, and mine might be for sale! tenderly used:) 115,000 miles. thinking of a diesel 4 by 4 pick up, because of other needs.

I've had a Subaru Forester for about 5 years now. Bought a '98 with 35,000 miles. Had a major oil leak (front seal) a couple of years ago, and that's been it. 700 to get it fixed. I have driven it hard. Probably a few thousand miles racing on logging roads, many miles in the snow, and it seems to be holding up pretty well. My wife has a newer Outback. Not as rough a car. Wouldn't want to beat it up like I do my Forester. Pretty good room-I'm 6' 2" and have slept in it a few times. Pretty good clearance, maybe a little more than the Outback? And if that is a major concern, a lift kit would be reasonable and kinda fun. Oh and 24'ish mpg with bigger tires and brushguard etc. Someone previously mentioned some kinda 4 by 4 that they bought rough, that gets good gas mileage and has lots of room. sounded like a good option. I definitely wouldn't get a nicer car for back country shit, getting all worried about busting through bushes and such.

i realize how the above could be misinterpreted. To clarify: I like native american drumming.

ohmygodicantbelieveialmostmissedthisdiscussionimgladicamebytocheckthingsoutandloandbeholdmyfavoritetopicwasplayingatthelittlescreenBUTSERIOUSLY i like dwayner and his perspective. always have. people take his position so amazingly personally, but i've always appreciated it. not only his position, but the extent to which it will goad so many here. ok so maybe it's a little single note, but a single note played sincerely beats multiple notes played ignorantly (or notes i care not to listen to). like native american drumming.

didn't you hear about the drilled pockets? alot of problems have been added that never made it into the scotty/wolfe guide. i guess this goes without saying....

all good guesses, pink, but rafe is closer to the mark. although, i realize my forensics suck! the first draw is the replacement draw. the original was torched by some jim-hoo during the numerous vandalism incidents teh area suffered last winter/spring. oh, and a friend ran into the fa'er, but i can't remember the name of the route now....kinda interesting that the area was developed in the '90's up to 13a or b, on 1/4" bolts.

Dr. Super Mega? never heard that one before.... i can tell from evidence in the foto that it was taken no later than oh, april of this year? can you guess what the evidence is?
