Well, Mike and Ivan are up there, good luck with the forecast tomorrow. Don't go out rt. 14 it's a nightmare - go I84.
-
Kev, I think I just heard the whooping sound of black stealth helicopters headed your way...
-
With a 5-4 vote in SCOTUS, but hey, that's just human nature. once you are in ignorance what happens when you realize the truth is you are seeking a self-deceiving sham. Gotta dash...

The point being people are just people and there's nothing really all that special once you sit down and have a drink in Davos or spend the night in jail with them. They have all the same issues as you or me however brilliant, despotic, powerful, or poor. Nothing more temporarily oppressive than going to cocktail parties where everyone is better looking, smarter, and richer than you...
-
Not really, that last post was trying to get across an objective sense of what powerful people are like and explain that 'conspiracies' require collective competencies which by and large don't exist and certainly not on the scale necessary for the majority of your conjecture.
-
Dude, I've met more people who are brilliant, illumined, enlightened, talented, degreed, patented, educated, ignorant, mega-wealthy, dirt-poor, weak, uber-powerful, saints, benefactors, Knights, Dames, CEOs, Cardinals, generals, princesses, stars, and criminals than you can fucking google for - sometimes some or just about all of those in the same person. Sure, 99.9% of conspiracy theories are 99.9% bullshit and cons where someone is building a constituency, a bankroll, or 'prestige/profile' somewhere in the mix. Trust me, the 'guberment' really isn't that competent and neither is any given Swiss cocktail party of the world's 'elite'.

DZ/FS Sunday in the afternoon (to let it dry out a bit)
-
Actually, yes I do, a couple of each. Ever had a twenty minute private audience with a sitting VP in the Whitehouse? Ever had private meetings with several EU Foreign Affairs Ministers in theirs? Ever been in the same foreign jail cell as Paul McCartney? Every been interrogated for thirty-six hours by senior agents from Japanese Intelligence? Has the Secretariat of State of the Holy See ever taken your call? Ever spent time in prison? Shit does happen - but most of the shit you read on the internet is just that.

One point: I'm not interested in starting anything. The guidebook is out and that disagreement is mute at this point. I've simply pointed out had he not included the place I wouldn't have felt compelled to post this. Given he did include the place it should have contained a note on the parking and, unlike Ozone where the parking is at each end rather than on top like DZ/FS, should also have also had a explicit warning about the top hazards. Again, done deal and posting up here and MP were the only options left. Sorry if some folks don't like that perspective, but it is what it is. And face to face with anyone is fine with me, as is on either end of a rope.
-
Actually, no, it's fine just the way it is, and if you took it to be anything but a warning from me to whomever might read it I'd say that's your problem, not mine. If people didn't want the thread to be negative they simply needed to refrain from posting negative comments, pretty simple really.

Dude, a little overboard, but that's the spirit, man! But let's be clear here, I speak for no one but myself and in no way represent anyone else, particularly and most especially Beacon 'locals'. I'd also point out Opdycke had nothing to do with initiating my work on Beacon anchors and little involvement beyond the odd consult and keeping him abreast of what was getting replaced. No aspect of it related to anything he felt 'needed to be done' other than my attempts to accommodate him as much as possible. Two of those accommodations resulted in the most outcry and were the only bolts subsequently removed. P.S. What you and your little drama club thinks of me really keeps me up nights...
-
Dude, now this is the thread for you... [ edit: because, goshdarnit, you're just smarter than all these guys put together. ]
-
You guys need to queue off Ivan - he always thinks it through considering content, storyline, wit, humor, self-deprecation, and sarcasm when his fingers hit the key board. His posts show the same get-after-something spirit he does on rock. The bottom line is a little wit goes a long way when attempting to insult someone and also makes it worthwhile for the casual reader...

Ah, the last of the triplets roars - can't any of the three of you do better than that? Jesus, it's like an online version of the three stooges.
-
If you were smarter, then you'd know your 'news' has the evidentiary 'substance' of cotton candy - fluff, not facts.
-
"Historical links" - ha, that's a good one! I'm pretty sure google has a software patent on that so you better be careful using the term. Conspiracy theories certainly have been around long enough to be a part of history, so yes, you can make references to old nut jobs as well as new. And maybe you have noticed, but competing for and controlling access to resources is pretty much how all species operate. Nothing new there since pre-history and neither is the fact that a certain percentage of people can't accept the mundane quotient of their own lives and so become drama queens feeding on all manner of myth, legend, and faerie tales.

Except if you looked at the actual statewide demographics of that 6.2 percent of exemptions I'd bet you'd find it was a split right down the middle between the left and right fringe.
-
As far as red / blue smarts go you don't need to look any further than SAT scores by state adjusted for participation. Let's just say republicans aren't cranking out a lot of rocket scientists. Ditto for the urban / rural split which was also highlighted this week here: Out of Reach? Rural Elders Have Highest Rates of Obesity, Diabetes, Heart Disease

Maybe it's the wrong question...

Steve and I actually agree here - it's an illusion / delusion. Our diet alone means we have no freedom and our dependence on sanitary, transportation and communication technologies pretty much puts the nail in the coffin. I somehow can't shake this image of an iPhone-toting, anti-guberment militia attempting a flashmob assembly with their weapons at a local McDonalds in order to plan an assault on U.S. government 'forces'. Sshhhh! It's a secret...

Oil sands are up there with mountain top removal in coal as far as 'clean' goes. To make it somewhat 'cleaner' you'd have to pair it with [portable] nukes plants for the heat to do the extraction. As it is, it's way more greenhouse gases per delivered barrel than conventional crude. But, it's in this hemisphere and readily available just like coal so it's definitely getting used.

Seems odd that no one knows anything about this incident...
