    Bomber Gear

Over the past twenty-six years, I figure I've submerged my piece of gear for extended periods of time about five thousand times. It's been washed more times than that, buried in sand, kicked numerously, beaten against furniture, closed in doors, bitten by dogs, scratched by cats, thrown in the snow, and smashed by climbing harnesses. It still works.
  12. With the recent exception at Virginia Tech, the three worst public shootings in the Western world during the past year all occurred in Europe.
  13. Why do you believe this film is not just propaganda? ...because of the "on camera" testimonies of farmers in both the U.S. and Canada, as well as the verified statements of fact concerning persons that are employed both (alternately) in the government agencies that regulate the industry and on the boards of the industry they regulate, resulting in little to no regulation, streamlined commercialization, and greater incentive to fatten wallets instead of wasting the time (and money) necessary for adequate scrutiny. But, it's primarily the testimony of the individual family farmers and their stories of persecution, abuse, and ruin at the hands of Monsanto that is the hallmark of credibility, for me. They are the same people as those I am descendant from and who I know to be the salt of the earth. They had nothing to gain from their involvement in this film beyond further harassment and hardship. They are the kind of people that do what they know to be "right" in spite of the costs, which is what Monsanto used to suck them dry. They are beyond reproach.
  14. President of Venezuela?
  15. No, my partner, when putting his balaclava over his face again, usually exclaims only, JEE-ZUSSS!!!1
  16. Scott, thanks for expanding upon and clarifying the information of the thread topic. It's great to see the mountaineering/climbing community give of their time and resources to people groups who inhabit the great mountain areas of this world that we draw our inspiration from. btw, was the post you refer to in your last post deleted (moderated)?
  17. Having operated my own businesses all of my life (including as a young kid), in most circumstances, I'm empathetic and defensive of capitalism and business in general. I'm no Utopian and, in my not-so-humble opinion, harbor fewer illusions about our world than most I know. But, just from the personal testimonies of farmers shown in this film, I am very concerned about what our government (and the Canadian government) has allowed to transpire in law resulting in significant erosions of private property rights and the ability of private farmers to operate unencumbered outside the influence of corporate giants. JayB and PP, I suggest you research the topic better (see the film for a start). Afterwards, I doubt you'll be as dissmissive.
  18. ahhhh..., ok
  19. I use my partner's balaclava
  20. Let's see... Someone who has shown, repeatedly, a lack of understanding and sensitivity in his behavior while in a semi-anonymous group that includes females, as well as lacking a modicum of knowledge/comprehension of written language, being placed in a position of authority in a literary-based environment of the same group? ...is Rod Serling or Alan Funt around here, somewhere?
  21. The lab work may well be innocuous, but this issue is not confined to the lab; on this point you sound naive. My concerns are not about devious mad scientists in lab coats devising the latest diabolical threat to mankind, but about manipulative business practices that corporate giants are using to secure increases in profit share at the expense of family farmers, public health, and the diminishment of future food-group bio-diversity.
  22. Who are you trying to kid, beside yourself? The changes occurring worldwide in food production are not motivated simply or primarily by altruistic desires to end world hunger. It's about money. Control.
  23. right, the guy "shreds", but it's only so much masturbation. How is he at making love (collaboration). Guitar pyrotechnics gets old when there's no soul-moving message to the music.
