The ARB air locker is the cream of the crop, so you will pay a few bucks for it, I think somewhere around 500 bucks. There are alternatives like power trax, EZ locker, lockrite and so on. The neat thing about ARB is you have an air compressor that you can use to fill tires, little slow, but nice if you air down for the trail. The bucks is the labour but you can save if you hook up the compressor and run the air lines your self which is not so bad. The other thing is if you crack open your diff to put in the locker you might wanna change your gears, I'm running 4.10's you probably have 3.73's so it would be nice to get some 4.10's or 4.56's but you dont have to. I dont know much about toyotas or what type of axle you run but the new Tacomas have a rear locker so maybe you coud get one from toyota and I dont think the stock is air locked. Definetly one of the best mods you could make to your vehicle!! I had one in my ranger and I have one waiting to go in my explorer. I'am just mulling over my gears and if I want to add a larger compressor so that I could run some tools. Forget the trailhead take her to the base of the climb!!

put the chains on your drive wheels, if you have 4wd then you can put them on all 4. better than chains for jayb would be to purchase a rear locker, then you would at least have 3wd, as it stands a 4 wd dr really is only a 2wd, since power only goes to one rear wheel and one front wheel. whats your reasoning for putting the chains on the front tires and not the rear or not all the tires? big chains are the best.

If your using it for getting to the trail why would you buy a car and why would you buy a 2wd pick up? Subarus are fine but why drive an inferior automobile wrt to a 4wd truck in the woods? get an old Toyota on big tires and go anywhere. Edit: if you got the cake get a new one, people always forget cars are not an investment they are a luxury you will lose money, who cares.

Does YVR make sense

Dipping below 0 tonight in Lillooet, finally, still kinda warm during the day though. Come on Cold, I hate October
-
Interesting that after we talked about this, I think it was this weekend that a whole bunch of squid washed up in washington, apparently they were travelling in some warmer than usual water. Signifying what scientists have been saying that we are seeing a small elnino event. This seems to be in agreement with the models predicting a warmer than normal winter, due to this elnino event. I hope not but interesting anyways.

with a high of 11 and a low of 7 I doubt any one is going to be doing much this weekend, maybe head to Alberta its been cold there for the last week barely getting above -3 in Calgary during the day, in fact this weekend looks stellar there!!! Hmmm, any one got any word on ice in Field or Canmore
-
I agree
-
Same shit here too, kinda sucks, the sucess rate for both these models is low but it still sucks that both have come to the same conclusion, that is if your in to ice climbing http://weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/saisons/image_e.html?img=sfe1t_s

Unfortunately the High is moving the wrong way, normally the high would move east allowing afor a few more days of good weather as the high moves across us this time however the high will move weath allowing some weather to move in fri night. So the weekend is looking pretty rough. Maybe cross all your toes too!!!

Very nice!!!!!

Oh really, ok well thanks for clarifying that, thank god your around. Free advice: being the nice sensitive guy never got the chicks, no matter what grade your in. The thread is in spray and it is a joke im sure you can handle it and if not maybe you should bow out.

How about, Loose Lucy? get it yet?
-
Just asked, nice name!!
-
I just wanted to stir the pot a little, I definetley was introduced into spray!!! I have a qeustion about the 2 girls names on this board, What type of image are you trying to conjur up with: Muffy I live in Mufftown, and even more disturbing: Breezy D Just thought those names were a tad odd,
-
For the sake of more punishment, You got me there, I climb with a soft cock, i suppose thats why I dont want a climbing girlfriend. I geuss thats another thing to watch out for in the hills: hard cock climbers, yikes Thanks for the fun, I'm going home now.
-
I didnt say find a whiny girl, I said you dont want a man girl. No I just dont need a girl with big muscles, maybe you do, maybe a bit of manliness turns you on. I agree but not as my girlfriend.
-
Easy now, I wouldn't expect anything less from a girl who lives in Mufftown, in fact if you couldnt help yourself to seconds im sure you couldnt live in Mufftown. Seriously though all you have say in regards to why you shouldnt have a girlfriend climber is that you can do it harder, I think I'll stay with the soft and cuddly types who do it dainty!!
-
Okay dude first why do you want your GF to climb? So she has gnarly hands from climbing? big muscles? the list goes on on the other hand you could have a girl who thinks your badass for climbing rock really has no idea your a wimpy sprt climber, has dinner a warm bath and is all pretty and soft when you get home, gauranteed time out with the guys and guranteed action when you get home from conquering rock!! its a no brainer!!!

I missed some of the comments in the Shuksan article, particularly from Buckaroo. I thought instead of highjacking that further I would let you guys chew on this article from the NOAA Milankovitch Theory The tilt of the earth relative to its plane of travel about the sun is what causes seasons. The hemisphere "pointing toward" the sun is in summer, while the opposite hemisphere is in winter. The earth makes one full orbit around the sun each year. The northern hemisphere is in summer in the left image, while 6 months later, the southern hemisphere has summer, as in the center image. If the earth's axis were "straight up and down" relative to the orbital plane, as in the right-hand image, there would be no seasons, since every point on the earth would receive the same amount of sun each day of the year. Changes in the "tilt" of the earth can change the severity of the seasons - more "tilt" means more severe seasons - warmer summers and colder winters; less "tilt" means less severe seasons - cooler summers and milder winters. The earth wobbles in space so that its tilt changes between about 22 and 25 degrees on a cycle of about 41,000 years. It is the cool summers which are thought to allow snow and ice to last from year to year in high latitudes, eventually building up into massive ice sheets. There are positive feedbacks in the climate system as well, because an earth covered with more snow reflects more of the sun's energy into space, causing additional cooling. In addition, it appears that the amount of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere falls as ice sheets grow, also adding to the cooling of the climate. The earth's orbit around the sun is not quite circular, which means that the earth is slightly closer to the sun at some times of the year than others. The closest approach of the earth to the sun is called perihelion, and it now occurs in January, making northern hemisphere winters slightly milder. This change in timing of perihelion is known as the precession of the equinoxes, and occurs on a period of 22,000 years. 11,000 years ago, perihelion occurred in July, making the seasons more severe than today. The "roundness", or eccentricity, of the earth's orbit varies on cycles of 100,000 and 400,000 years, and this affects how important the timing of perihelion is to the strength of the seasons. The combination of the 41,000 year tilt cycle and the 22,000 year precession cycles, plus the smaller eccentricity signal, affect the relative severity of summer and winter, and are thought to control the growth and retreat of ice sheets. Cool summers in the northern hemisphere, where most of the earth's land mass is located, appear to allow snow and ice to persist to the next winter, allowing the development of large ice sheets over hundreds to thousands of years. Conversely, warmer summers shrink ice sheets by melting more ice than the amount accumulating during the winter. What is The Milankovitch Theory? The Milankovitch or astronomical theory of climate change is an explanation for changes in the seasons which result from changes in the earth's orbit around the sun. The theory is named for Serbian astronomer Milutin Milankovitch, who calculated the slow changes in the earth's orbit by careful measurements of the position of the stars, and through equations using the gravitational pull of other planets and stars. He determined that the earth "wobbles" in its orbit. The earth's "tilt" is what causes seasons, and changes in the tilt of the earth change the strength of the seasons. The seasons can also be accentuated or modified by the eccentricity (degree of roundness) of the orbital path around the sun, and the precession effect, the position of the solstices in the annual orbit. What does The Milankovitch Theory say about future climate change? Orbital changes occur over thousands of years, and the climate system may also take thousands of years to respond to orbital forcing. Theory suggests that the primary driver of ice ages is the total summer radiation received in northern latitude zones where major ice sheets have formed in the past, near 65 degrees north. Past ice ages correlate well to 65N summer insolation (Imbrie 1982). Astronomical calculations show that 65N summer insolation should increase gradually over the next 25,000 years, and that no 65N summer insolation declines sufficient to cause an ice age are expected in the next 50,000 - 100,000 years ( Hollan 2000, Berger 2002).

This is a great topic, I wouldlike to see more photos of what people do to their tools, ice tools that is!!! I also would like to hear any ideas on sharpening screws, after a few seasons of dropping them in to my bag they are getting dull, I should have taken better care of them. I was thinking that the local shrpening place may have a few ideas but that seems pretty sketchy. thanks in advance j

Nice one Dru, I got spanked by the top pitch of that route twice and I finally got it this time last year, how did you find it?

Uh dood, you want a girl with back muscles? If you want a girl with a manly body, you may want to re-asses what side of the closet your in -
how do I post a full size image in a post it does not work like it used to? I can not right click the larger photo to see its properties to place it in the image box. I can only do this with a thumbnail. Thanks Jesse
