  1. My dad who is 78 yrs. old was a jetfighter pilot during the cold war in Europe. Last x-mas we skied into Mt. Assinibone, a 54 km. round trip. He is such an amazing guy and I'm so lucky to have him.
  2. Nice headline.
  3. Read? Newspapers? I thought you guys down there only watch TV.
  4. UNITED NATIONS ( AP) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez took President Bush to task in front of a global summit for waging war in Iraq without U.N. consent and won rousing applause for his critique. The leftist leader told a U.N. summit on Thursday that fighting the war without U.N. authorization showed Washington did not respect the world body. He recommended moving U.N. headquarters to a country that has more regard for the organization. ``There were never weapons of mass destruction but Iraq was bombed, and over U.N. objections, (it was) occupied and continues being occupied,'' Chavez said. Bush alleged that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction but none have been found, shattering one of his main arguments for going to war. ``That's why we propose to this assembly that the United Nations leave this country, which is not respectful of the very resolutions of this assembly,'' Chavez said. World leaders at the summit had been asked to speak for five minutes but Chavez ran long and when the presiding diplomat passed him a note saying his time was up, he threw it on the floor. He said if Bush could speak for 20 minutes, so could he. When he finally stopped, he got what observers said was the loudest applause of the summit. I think the "axis of evil" club is about to get a new member. It'll be interesting to see how the spin doctors will make Venezuela a terrorist threat now.
  5. The spineless Canadian justice system and the zealous American drug storm troopers should take care of their own back yards. If the Canadian officials permit the brown shirts to extradite him, they should be arrested for sedition. They were well aware of his activities and chose not to pursue things further. How can they yield to pressure from a foreign government to bring charges now? This will set a dangerous precedent. If selling seeds make him a drug dealer then I guess we are heroin addicts when buying poppie seed muffins.
  6. My practical side tells me to buy some new clothes , a bus ticket out of this hole and start a new life. My evil side says WWOOO HOOO get those double D's over here honey!
  7. HUrrican relief money being spent on essential needs check it out. http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=46361
  8. The Clash. None of those boy bands that you guys mentioned would have the talent to write these lines from Know your rights... You have the right not to be killed. Murder is a crime unless it was done by a policeman or an aristocrat. You have the right to free speech. As long as you're not dumb enough to actually try it.
  9. CELG gonna pop huge in 2 minutes when its unhalted...
  10. 2nd vote was 10-5 for, so you better wait and see.
  11. Because FDA just voting 2-13 against dosing. Short sell it instead...
  12. Is it time for a new American revolution? How far will the "have nots" permit themselves to be pushed? What will be the boiling point that ignites the spark that says enough is enough? How will it surface and who will lead the charge? How will it spread and develop the necessary strength to overcome the current government structure? Will 1000 mothers that have lost sons in an avoidable war be the spark? 2000? 10,000? How many will it take? Will the ever expanding, self appointed role as the worlds policeman simply become too much? Will meddling in the affairs of other sovereign nations under the auspices of freedom take a step too far? Will it be the reintroduction of the draft or when "Axis of Evil" countries are invaded? Will the racism and prejudice that simmers just below the surface finally explode, divide the nation and set it aflame? Is hurricane Katrina the latest progression from Watts and Montgomery? Are reservations like where the red man is enchained their next step? Will it be the crushing foreign debt that triggers an economic collaspe? Do broke, beaten down people have anything else to lose? Can the current education, social security and health care systems provide for the people? Will they finally crack and dump the populace knee deep in the mire? Will taxation without representation become the catalyst once more? Will the rape of the environment make living conditions unbearable? Will another natural disaster strike and produce a cataclysm that breaks the fragile underpinnings of society? Will the rise of the another superpower starting to squeeze the hand of uncle sam so hard make him forget about domestic prolems and concentrate on his shrinking global influence? Can there be a chain reaction of the above factors that when taken alone don't have the necessary vigor, but collectively do, to compel a movement that starts the change? Spray on.
  13. Does anyone have one of those new Big Agnes or Exped insulated sleeping pads? Any comments on them? How about a Prolite 4? What are your current sleeping pad setups? I use an yellow evazote and/or a z rest most of the time and it kind of sucks.
  14. Canadians beat U.S. Army to New Orleans suburb BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Reuters) - A Canadian search-and-rescue team reached a flooded New Orleans suburb to help save trapped residents five days before the U.S. military, a Louisiana state senator said on Wednesday. The Canadians beat both the Army and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. disaster response department, to St. Bernard Parish east of New Orleans, where flood waters are still 8 feet deep in places, Sen. Walter Boasso said. "Fabulous, fabulous guys," Boasso said. "They started rolling with us and got in boats to save people." "We've got Canadian flags flying everywhere." The stricken parish of 68,000 people was largely ignored by U.S. authorities who scrambled to get aid to New Orleans, a few miles (km) away. Boasso said residents of the outlying parishes had to mount their own rescue and relief efforts when Hurricane Katrina roared ashore on August 29. The U.S. government response to the disaster has been widely criticized. Politicians and editorial writers have called for the resignation of top Bush administration officials. Boasso said U.S. authorities began airdropping relief supplies to St. Bernard last Wednesday, the same day the Canadian rescue team of about 50 members arrived from Vancouver, nearly 2,200 miles away. "They chartered a plane and flew down," he said. Two FEMA officials reached the parish on Sunday and the U.S. Army arrived on Monday, he said. "Why does it take them seven days to get the Army in?" Boasso asked. He speculated that the smaller parishes suffered because the focus was on New Orleans, the famous home of jazz and Mardi Gras. As for the Canadians, Boasso gave thanks for their quick work. "They were so glad to be here," he said. "They're still here. They are actually going door-to-door looking in the attics" for people to rescue, he said.
  15. That white chick is not too smart, dragging that loaf of bread through fecal matter, toxic waste and other flotsam and jetsam.
  16. Anybody know what the conditions are like on the glacier and route?
  17. Having been an entrepreneur for most of my life and starting businesses with me as the sole employee to one that had 30 employees, I can tell you that the best business is the one I've done for the past 5 yrs., daytrading in the stockmarket. No employees, no products, no inventory, no advertising/marketing, no licenses, no leases to sign, no payroll taxes, no accounts receivables. All these things are a hassle and you will be held captive to them at some point. I can work from home in my underwear if I want and the profits dwarf anything a small business can generate. I can go on vacation whenenver I want and it'll still be there when I return. If you can control your fear and greed it's the perfect way of life.
  18. When your so called elected leader invades Iran("All options are on the table") and/or N.Korea and institutes the draft in a vain attempt to get more cannon fodder for his war machine, your "little buddy" Canada will open its arms and welcome you in. You can then get a job at Tim Hortons slinging donuts and light up some BC Bud without fear of spending the rest of your life in jail due to archaic and drachonian drug laws. As you travel this fine, energy self sufficient country in pursuit of life, liberty and happiness, marvelling at abundant natural resources that have not been plundered and polluted by corporations backed by idoitic special interest groups, you'll realize what a unique place this land really is. As you settle down to a good nights sleep uninterrupted by a "Homeland Security" police raid or riot induced by an oppressed racial group spurred on by a fear mongering media, you'll wonder why you didn't apply for Canadian citizenship sooner. And besides those little Canadian flags that you sew on to your pack so you wont be mistaken for an American are easier to buy up here.
  19. Anyone have current road conditions and is it still worthwhile to bring mountainbikes?
  20. Climb: Wedge Mt. -Northeast Arete Date of Climb: 7/3/2005 Trip Report: Yet another Wedge Mt. trip report. See my blog http://hydrogenplusstupidity.blogspot.com/ for some great photos tho. Gear Notes: Shoulda had a helicopter instead of hiking that brutal trail.
  21. I posted a picture of my shovel on my blog. http://hydrogenplusstupidity.blogspot.com/ As you can see I used a 1 1/4" hole saw to lighten it up. The shovelling performance is unaffected in any snow conditions. It works great to level tent platforms as the holes act like a cheese grator, or use as a dead man, stove platform and is easy to strap onto your pack. It is lighter than any shovel I've picked up. Keep the holes away from the edges and spaced out or the blade will lose too much rigidity.
  22. Climb: Mt. Matier N.W. face, foiled again.- Date of Climb: 4/10/2005 Trip Report: see my blog for photos http://hydrogenplusstupidity.blogspot.com/
  23. Climb: Wedge Mt.-N.E. Arete Date of Climb: 2/22/2005 Trip Report: see my blog for details and photos. http://hydrogenplusstupidity.blogspot.com/ Gear Notes: Shoulda had snowshoes.
