  1. sometimes you crack me up Olyclimber...
  2. Let's see, well, I'd say you clearly have no personal knowledge or experience with the effects of hallucinogens relative to climbing performance; either that or you are a reformed stoner who dropped sh#t willy-nilly in which case you still have no personal knowledge or experience with said effects relative to climbing performance. As for the "transcending the beliefs of billions over millenia ", yes sir, those billions were subject to religious beliefs designed to drive people apart with hate, racism, genocide, and war that entire millenia. You'd think a little introspection might lead to a somewhat different outcome over that same period, but of course religion was never designed for that purpose. As a matter of fact, I'd say the use of religion for those purposes definitely consitutes intelligent design - ruthless and inhumane - but, definitely quite ingenious. hate, racism and genocide are not products of religion but products of mankind. before there was mass, organized religion, on the scale of Christianity or Islam, all these evils existed and were perpetuated and even considered to be perfectly natural and fine. And indeed, those who called religion the "opiate of the masses" have a hefty 100 million life body count to their credit, along with plenty of hatred, ethnic cleansing, and outright genocide. Of course, those facts are easy to overlook with your bigoted, anti-religious blinders on, now isn't it.
  3. Again, you simply just have no idea what you're talking about do you...? Clearly, I need to fuck up my brain chemistry with a couple of sheets of 'cid to be as "enlightened" as you are.
  4. man made chemicals are artificial, much more potent, and when used recreationally - destructive. use of peyote by central americans for example is not equivalent to taking 25 hits of acid by any stretch.
  5. bullshit. you can try to "define down deviancy" all you want, but I ain't drinking the Kool-Aid. We've got a thread here with a bunch of self-righteous, atheist religion bashers spewing off their fucking bullshit as if *they* have some answer. What answer is that, pray tell? we are accidents of nature destined to be nothing but worm food? Your life and consciousness is snuffed out, end of story? yeah real inspiring. and all the more so, when it is accompanied by obvious pain and escapism - including excessive hallucinogenic drug use. I'm so inspired by this hopeful message, and the obvious happiness of its purveyors. Truly we must all "evolve" to think this way, and make appropriate, concomitant, "liberating" choices in our life that will make us oh so much happier. just look how happy it makes its proponents who are so sure of their beliefs that they react with explosive vitriol at any suggestion that God exists. and as for those crazy Christians we keep hearing about - trying to "force" everyone to believe... Sorry, but I don't see anyone here giving sermons trying to convert and force their beliefs. the only zealots I see here are the hate-filled atheists.
  6. The fact that religion still plays a significant role in human society is about the only legitimate argument I can think of for attempting to refute evolution. Ignorance prevailing is one thing, clinging to it in desperation and fear is entirely another - the toys and weapons change, but not really all that much else... The fact that people take mind-altering, hallucinogenics, think it enhances their performance, and proudly spew off on it on the intrafucking web, and then posit some type of personal wisdom transcending the beliefs of billions over millenia - that's a truly legitimate argument to refute evolution.
  7. social democracies seem to provide a fertile ground for general happiness. ...my father would have called you a commi. are you fresh out of college V7. if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

  9. Yeah Dems always get a free pass. That hullabaloo about Bush leaving out the "s" in Democrats was the same thing, a waste of newsprint. If a Republican said this about Obama, the Dems would cry bloody murder and demand their pound of flesh. And of course the statement would "reveal" the "inner thoughts and feelings" in that case.
  10. He paid for that one. Big time.
  11. Yeah Dems always get a free pass.
  12. Thanks Senator Biden for letting us know there are "clean" African Americans.
  13. there are more than 20-30 countries with "a lot less Guantanimo. indeed - we have you
  14. it's not YOUR planet, you egomaniac
  15. This is a good point. I have a T-Shirt that is a "Hitler World Tour" shirt that I find funny. I quickly discovered that others do not. I don't wear it so often--even though I strongly believe in the right to free speech and self expression. I love that shirt, but I'd never buy it or wear it...
  16. Once I cut myself really badly with a sharp knife. All sharp knives should be destroyed immediately and nobody should be allowed to make anymore.
  17. cream cheese or sour cherry?
  18. Im gonna break my rusty cage and run
  19. Not mine. pictures, please
  20. That was your intent, was it not? And look at all the fun we've had. See you again tomorrow? not really, but it *was* fun.
  21. Once again I have started a shit storm. :-)
  22. global warming. peace. does not compute.
  23. I knew this was coming back to the evolution debate again. Once again Evolution is a Theory. It takes just as much faith to beleive in evolution. So please don't try to teach my son something that is your religion (evoluction). You want to beleive you came from nothing fine, but don't shove that crap down my or my sons throat. I personally beleive they should leave eloution and creation out of classroom and teach science. There is plently to learn about the elements and how they work, that everyone can agree on. Science can move forward. I believe in God and evolution. So did the last Pope.
  24. nope. some do. many people of faith consider your life's journey to involve periods of faith being cyclical and part of a lifelong process. at times it is expected you would question the existence of God, the purpose of life and so on. It is a personal journey that everyone must undertake. Forcing someone to think a certain way at a certain period of time in their life damages this process. The gospels support this notion (the workers who are paid the same salary and do less than a day's work); and some saints have led lives exemplifying this process as well (Augustine). and don't confuse talking about religion and faith as forcing it on you. it's not the same.
  25. yeah, that's a great fucking vision of life. no wonder atheists are so hateful, pathetic, and unhappy. so what you're saying is that for you religion is the "green pill" and the reason you're happy? i know many happy atheists who go on about life in a very positive way. when you know that your life is finite, you tend to live it fully. I am talking about rabid, anti-religious atheists. Many agnostics and "quiet" atheists have found happiness. I apply the above comments related to only to the former group, and those are the ones you hear from the most.
