i'm through with the gay/hetero - who raises kids better slant Yeah. OK. I didn't think I was feelin the love..... sorry, no love, umm LUV, for you. I'm monogamous. Talk to V7 if you are looking for some extra "attention"
  8. have you ever gotten called to jury duty? did you avoid it? just wondering... also, btw, the problem seems to be more about the way suspects are identified in this (and many other cases), and how readily a victim or prosecutor makes/forces the identification. totally fubar.
  9. no amount of money can make up for 22 years in the slammer, but yeah, it would be cool if he could get enough cash to live a comfortable life to ripe old age I agree.....but if he could get a few million for some sort of wrongful imprisonment suit. But I do recall my wife telling me some time ago about a law that protects the state from law suits from this sort of thing…..I think the guy is screwed. Forget the lawsuits, the state should just pay something fair in these cases. Totally pathetic. Define fair? I mean really I would say five million is fair…..others might say wages lost is fair….. average salary in the state for 22 years plus 3x for damages, as I stated above.

who cares more about him/herself? the one who goes fat, or the one who gets pissed about the partner going fat???

i have a climbing buddy of mine who eventually got divorced for this very reason. his wife was thin and trim long enough to get him sucked in then went off the diet pills (that he didn't know she was on) and ballooned. he stuck it out with her for years, but it was a source of friction - 'you should love me for who I am', and no effort to get in shape. eventually they split.

My fifth grade teacher was a proctor for an achievement test I took in my junior year of high school. I hadn't seen him in 6 years. When he saw me walk in, he said something to the effect, "oh, you made it this far". In my mind I thought, "WTF, a-hole, I'll make more of my life than you."
  16. no amount of money can make up for 22 years in the slammer, but yeah, it would be cool if he could get enough cash to live a comfortable life to ripe old age Depends on the state. I think some give minimum wage, some give average state income, some give what you were earning when you were arrested... how about the average salary of a resident of the state over the last 22 years, plus 3x that amount for damages.

    Monogamy?

no, he didn't. my point was not that ANY hetero couple is the bestest in the world, but that the ideal for raising children involves a father and mother. having a shitty father and/or mother is not part of the ideal. and, back to the monogamy topic, what I have noticed is that children of divorce seem to have the most trouble, on average, with committment. I'm pretty sure I've read reports on research backing this up and I've damn well seen it in people I know. again, the non-ideal situation of lacking a stable set of parents leads to (on average) worse outcomes. likewise, girls with no strong father figure are more likely to be sexually abused and have other problems (drug use, depression, etc). Again, I recall reading reports on studies of this. anyways, I'm done with this thread. I'm sorry I got sucked into it. you guys would argue the shade of blue of the sky if it got into your mind.

...By their hetero parents. umm, no, by ANY parents. could be gay, lesbian, or single parent, whatever.
  21. We all look the same to them. that is so fucked up.

    Monogamy?

that's funny, the thing I've noticed is how people who are majorly fucked up can trace it right back to something that happened to them in childhood.
  23. KaskadskyjKozak

    Monogamy?

umm, who ever said that? again, I think people read way too much into the idea of an IDEAL. if you take away from one aspect you have to fill it somehow with another.

looks like another manufactured argument here for the sake of argument. do you have kids? have you been around enough to see how their role models affect them? have you read any of the research that comes out periodically on this subject? just because you don't like a "non-PC" truth, do you feel compelled to argue against it with no backing but emotion?
  25. Every time I hear one of these stories it pisses me off. How do you make up for something like this?!!! linky
