  1. It is just my observation and gross generalization. Do you observe a different trend?
  2. Washington has great skiers and great snowboarders. I would have to call bullshit on any argument claiming skiers to be "better" than snowboarders. Particularly in washington where ski area conditions are much more conducive to snowboarding I would be willing to bet that in washington the top 10% of snowboarders on average ride harder than the top 1% of skiers. Obviously there are gapers in both sports, and snowboarding has more than its fair share. Take Mt. baker for example, big drops and steep lines get ridden proportionately way more by snowboarders than skiers even compared to the relative sizes of the two populations.
  3. I thought alpental falls was the one through the trees in the 2nd pic with the steeper finish. Maybe I misread your book before.
  4. While enjoying some nice turns at alpental today I checked out some of the ice lines. Stellar falls is still pretty fragile looking, although it could probably be toproped without too much damage on the left side. Alpental falls are looking a little snowy and thin, although you could probably piece something together if so inclined. There was some better looking ice under chair two, which may be indicative of conditions at similar high elevations in the valley. Photos of alpental falls
  5. In seattle nonetheless http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7004909622962894202&q=octopus
  6. In particular I think dru was pointing out the nice looking WI flow at the bottom of the frame.
  7. I put the boots on my feet and then put the crampons on and beat the bail with a hammer. They seem to fit pretty flush now. The heel adjuster also is at its tightest limit and I woulnt mind if it was tighter.
  8. They actually gave me a choice of most any crampon I wanted, but the BDs were the only ones they had on site so I took em. They also said it was the one they recommend most. Kinda sucks that it fits so poorly. Didnt want to wait and order now that it is so cold outside.
  9. So I finally returned my recalled montrail crampons and got some new Bionics from them. The problem is the welt doesnt match the boot well. I tried hammering on it, but the thing is stiff. Is there a trick to this?
  10. I try to start a serious thread and back and forth pooping and you drift it towards this mindless drivle.
  11. The band I listen to right now, nobody listens to. I am the only person at their shows. You guys are gonna be so jealous when the make it big. You will be like "man Trogdor is way cooler than all of us." I will probably be the fan club president and all you suckas will worship me. Although you probably worship me already so that wont be much of a change. ))<>((
  12. Has anybody else seen this movie? It is one of the weirdest films I've seen. It is also surprisingly good. Here is a sample dialogue from the movie: "I want to poop back and forth I'll poop into your butthole. And then you'll poop it back. Into my butthole. Then we'll just keep doing it. Back and forth. With the same poop. Forever. ))<>(("
  13. I will just have to buy the coupon off ebay
  14. How much to set my post count eternally to Dru's post count +1
  15. FYI lower mountain only. Cross your fingers they open C2 soon.
  16. Jealous
  17. Gary, Be it digital art or photography, some of those images are really gorgeous. Just like climbing, in photography I think we all have an ill-defined ethical line of what is and isnt acceptable. To me I think exposure bracketing and such is a great tool to recreate the dyanmic range of an actual scene. I probably draw the line at moving animals around and such.
  18. I had one of those rock gobots. They sucked. Voltron also sucked because of the pink one and the toys were made like shit. Transformers rocked, especially the metal ones. He-Man seemed pretty masculine compared to some of the other toys my older sister made me play with like Care Bears and Glow Worms. On a side note, what are your opinions on hyper color clothing?
  19. Are suggesting a future Miss Cascade Climber Contest might be in the works? I cant wait.
  20. Weekend climber, THat is a pretty great app. I hate having to go back and forth to six different web pages to see a weeks trends. Thanks!!!

  23. Still within Ski Area boundary. Many of the best lines at Baker involve ducking one or more ropes. Unfortuneately many visitors don't know what ropes are good to duck and which aren't. The article may refer to a spot where people regularly duck one rope, then traverse back out before the cliff band. This is a fairly popular line in that case. As stated on TGR continuing down the fall line here is much less common. Condolences to the skiers family.
  24. Slaphappy, Nice list. What about Poison Ivy Crack as well as the afformentioned other 8 mile rock cracks. Since this is a workshop and not just a tick list, I really like the idea of listing routes by specific (or crux) technique required. Hiking classic crack won't necessarily prep you for 5.9 fingers or OW. I think ideally (if Oly can do it) the list should try to have 2+ climbs per grade per area per technique when possible. Based on my limited experience at Tieton, this seems very possible there given the variety of cracks. At LW, easy finger cracks are a little harder to find for example, but knowing them would provide some real utility to the list. OOPS, dont forget crack
