[TR] Le Petit Cheval near WA pass- Spontaneity Arete 7/20/2004
lost_arrow replied to scott_johnston's topic in Spray
rat / greg - what a load of shit. are you serious? do you use the handlines littered around squamish? what about fixed raps in an alpine environment? are those mountain garbage? "learning how to climb is learning how to deal with those situations" - exactly! that is why the hand line is there, after years of experience, and in the interest of establishing a moderate line, a handline over a crappy ball bearing strewn slab of deteriorating granite is an excellent idea. and no more trash than a rap sling on a tree or a two bolt anchor with chains. a huge thanks to scott and larry. -
i used one a few years back in s america for a few months. three trips with one. cant remember the style or name / two person. three poles? i was always scared that we would rip a huge hole in it - the fabric is super thin. i know thats the point due to the weight. but i was never that comfertable with it in the bigger storms. and shovelling it out in the middle of the night.

how was it hiking with these? did the stitching for the straps stay together? hot spots or weird wear from having the buckles over your toes or the side of your foot? this is great!

Brainstorming Ideas for Nepalis: Housing and Jobs

in repsonse to the carrott comments: Low carb stupidity #12 Believing that carrots are fattening because they’re high on the glycemic index and because a popular fad diet book says so. Low carb intelligence Have we lost all vestiges of common sense? With an average carrot clocking in at 31 calories and 7.3 grams of carbs, do you really think that this orange-colored, nutrient-dense, low-calorie, all-natural, straight-out-of-the-ground root vegetable is going to make you fat? (if so, you are in "carbohydrate kindergarten.")

I just got my MRI back on Monday and have a moderate L5/S1 disc herniation. After having a postitive response to prednisone - I recieved an epidural yesterday morning and am coming a bit around. Anyone been through this - how did you proceed? PT? Yoga? Where are you now with your climbing? etc etc. It would be great to connect with some folks who have been through this. Thanks.

how long will you be in ausitn? i went cragging there for the first time this past fall - there is plenty of sport climbing to keep you occupied for a week and enchanted rock is supposed to be decent cragging as well (45 mins out of austin) - i used www.texasclimbers.com to get topos and beta (there is a forum)....
