When there's a flood of people suddenly trying to adopt Ethiopian babies because Angelina did...it's a fad. I haven't read the rest of this thread. So no offense to anyone who adopted. Adopting is cool--fad or not! People should cut down on their breeding and take care of the kids out there who need homes, wherever they are from. I wish more people would consider adoption as a viable alternative to breeding--instead of considering it only when they *can't* get pregnant...

All I can say is it's depressing that you have to deal with that shit in academia. I was always hoping if I quit my job and got a PhD I'd escape to the ivory tower, where I'd wear robes and spend hours hunched over historical documents, occassionaly attending a lecture, a cocktail party with witter banter, or just go straight to sabattical.

I'm sure there's a blog out there on just that topic!

Keep these stories coming! I have to say everyone is out of control when they learn to ski or snowboard. It's kind of inevitable. I'm just not sure how this guy managed to hit me on a huge wide open green run with only about ten other people out that night.

I went to Squid Ski School last night, got hit by a snowboarder, and now I'm lying here with an icepack, oxycodone, and one f*cked up knee. F'ing snowboarders! Ever fall down the stairs and dislocate your shoulder? Tripped and broken your leg? Taken a fall and knocked your teeth out? Last trip to the ER I had was for a running injury--I fell on I-90 and sliced my arm open, needed stiches. The worst part was having to take my shirt off (yes I was wearing a sportsbra, ya pervs) wrap it up and walk across the bridge with my arm in a bloody shirt. Not one of the 3 cyclists who passed me stopped to offer any help. F'ing cyclists!
