  1. The more you work and focus on your career, the more you are penalized for it. Does that make sense?
  2. Actually, it doesn't feel marginal when you are at the top end of that bracket; only when you first enter it. And here in the US you get screwed another way. Once you become a HCE, your retirment savings generally gets screwed up too--even though you are at the low end of that bracket. Taxes are so complex that the time spent figuring stuff out is amazing. Life slips away and you actually turn grey while doing them.
  3. you are infatuated with that man's chest.

  7. What? Wow! PM me.
  8. As you've noted, it is just usually luck. It's the rest of everyone who makes it good.

    And Corvettes. Wrong.
  10. I find this very interesting: "Along with acne, the Inuits also developed higher rates of obesity, diabetes, dental [cavities] and heart disease," says Smith. "It's interesting that the other maladies are commonly associated with diet, yet acne isn't." I am curious why their obesity rates are going up with Western diets. With such a high fat and protein consumption (think pemmican--yummy) during their pre-westernized diet, how could they get fattened up by eating processed foods? Is that the link? Higher sugar itself won't do it if your caloric intake doesn't go up, right?
  11. It would be a good idea to send a quick thank you email to this person and identify yourself as a climber. Gratitude goes a long way toward having your next request addressed.

People pay for this in my bedroom.
  13. There is already a company that can produce it from algae (which they grow in hanging plastic bags). It sounds like this would be a viable option. (the article I read on this was in a recent Scientific American)

    Careful.
  15. I honestly don't know what this means. Can you rephrase this for me? What I am reading is that they can go back to the beginning of the time the initiative was in effect and tax us for everything they would have made during that time. But then, that is probably just my paranoia coming out and I misunderstanding the true meaning of this.
  16. I have a plastic flask with a plastic shotglass top. It's pretty classy. Who said anything about schleppin' the bottle along? Put the tasty beverage in a dromedary bag. Or buy the Tefft Cellars boxed cab/merlot blend and pull the bag out of the box. As you drink it, the bag compresses. Voila! No extra volume wasted in the pack. Yeeesh, 'kirk, you really are an amateur. And I had such high hopes for you. :tsk: :tsk: :tsk:

Maybe I can figure out a way to have an "Ignore only the stupid stuff" button. We IT people get off building stuff like that.

Yeah, yeah, blah, blah, big old horrible terrorists doing really bad scary things. So we should, too. Or so your logic goes. I don't think you know my logic. You dismiss whatever I say out of hand too quickly to consider it. But that is okay, you are going to be right no matter what the conversation is, so bringing up other options is a pointless excersize with you.

what proportions? whatever you like. i used to drink Jaeger and Rumpleminze in 1:1 mix. It's been years though. I'd have to try out some different combos with the OJ... it would be a lot weaker, that is for sure. Jager and Chamborg 1:1

I prefer to pour toluene into one of my ears, let my brain marinate for a few hours, then let it sluff out through the other ear so I can clean the inside of the oven with it. This solves that pesky breathalizer problem as well.

I think defending morals is very important. The only thing more important may be to defend a person's life.
