Pain from metalwork/Pilon fracture
archenemy replied to archenemy's topic in Fitness and Nutrition Forum
Constant pain will make a person desperate. Or, at least, weary. -
My tattoo means a hell of a lot to me. It does have a deeply personal story to it and what it signifies. However, I don't believe someone really needs "a good reason" to get a tattoo other than they just want one (or two, or three). Body modification has been around for a mighty long time and will continue to go on. Having a drive to change one's body--permenently--is normal for a lot of people. And explaining that drive to someone who doesn't have it is like trying to explain to a non-climber why you have to climb.

Pain from metalwork/Pilon fracture

Okay, talked to the doc again yesterday. I have a Type 3 B - C (he said it was inbetween those two) fracture. Part of the reason my healing is slow is b/c I was non-weight baring for so long. (I didn't mention the fact that I damaged my left leg badly enough that I was in bed for two weeks and then in a wheelchair for a month after that.) So, prognosis is, I will live. We talked about taking the metal out after at least a year. Doc gave me an article talking about the results from people getting metal removed. Really, they don't have much data since internal fixators have only been used regularly for about 6 years. So that is my next quest--finding people who have had it removed and how they are doing. Fun stuff. -
I like how the title makes it look like the tattoos themselves own something. Rad.

Did I ever tell you that I love you? Thanks for the encouragement!!! -
Rush? No, the "same as it ever was" annoying one from The Talking Douchebags.
-
You are full of shit. But I like you anyway.

More like a "FUNT"

I don't think it would be considered A "Tramp Stamp", because it is located on my hip, not lower back. I hate the term "tramp stamp". It is belittling that this word gets applied to women who decide to get a tattoo. For many of us, a tattoo is an important, personal thing that carries meaning. And then to have other women defend their tattoo just because the location isn't the back is pussified bullshit.

I don't know what to say about that pic. Speach-less

You are my hero, Sherri!!!

Pain from metalwork/Pilon fracture

Took a lead fall. Wasn't very far (less than 20 ft) and my foot hit the rocks that were wedged in the crack. I heard my leg break on the second rock. I did not deck. In a way I think that was a good thing--mentally. If I didn't have to concern myself with popping the piece I was hanging on and didn't have to get myself back over a traversy part, I think I would have freaked out. Even though I knew my leg was broken, I looked at it anyway. If I could only un-see that....Anyway, I hooked my leg over my arm as if I were resting while ice climbing, and scootched very carfully all the way back down the climb. Well, not all the way, but to a safe perch where my belayer was. SAR got me down the rest of the way in the basket. I screamed so much two mountain goats just stared at me the whole time. I hate those evil creatures. -
That makes me want to throw up. Projectile.
-
Now that fucking song is stuck in my head
-
Thanks *sniff sniff* pity>
-
I guess it is probably because I just went through an emergency and had to be rescued by SAR and taken to a hospital and was away from my family and then had to call them the next day and tell them I was going into surgery. Maybe I feel for the people who are upset by the impacts that our climbing has on loved ones. Maybe I can put myself in that person's place. Maybe.

I post under my real name too.

Pfft, that stuff's easy for us, you know, with the gaydar and all. However, figuring out a seating arrangement for the weekly potluck where no ex'es are seated next to each other is a different matter entirely. I'm not even allowed at the table.

Pain from metalwork/Pilon fracture

This is not true. There are three types of the Pilon fracture and based on your description, you seem to have a type 2 (both fibia and tibia) Do follow up with the PT but do not be surprised if you would still be walking with "a parrot on your shoulder" after it is done. What I found worked best for me was to attend the classes in the local gym like step aerobics (for this particular type of the injury). This way you have much more motivation to be like everyone else in a shorter period of time as opposed to one on one situation with your PT. Thank you for posting the pix. I have a type three along with a crack in the talus. The tip of the tibia totally shattered and the doc basically said he opened up the facia, stuck the pieces he could find back in there, and is hoping for the best. I don't really know what that means, but I'm just glad I only see the deformation of the tib and fib trying to poke out of my skin on both sides of my leg in my mind. If I never have to lower myself off a rock praying to God that my piece doesn't blow, that will be too soon for me. (Note to self: stop running out leads). Anyway, I started PT months ago--I am fool enough to break my bones but not fool enough to do nothing about it. I probably sound like an idiot asking questions that show I am obviously ignorant of medical terms, but healing is important to me and thus my efforts at research, etc. Thanks again for the pics, it looks exactly like a cartoon rendering of my X rays!
