  1. Latest road report: http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/recreation/current-conditions/roads.shtml 8040 South Climb Gravel - One Lane 05/04/2004: Closed by snow.
  2. Oh wait I take it back Iain is more correct
  3. It's bad because I am breaking a skin track that makes travel much easier for other skiers. If it gets walked in, it generally negates that benefit, and once the track gets steep, the skins wont grip because there are friggin postholes. It really blows. And it turns out that there were several other skiers a ways behind me that day, who did end up using my track. Of course in powder it's not such a big deal, but in typical spring snow, where skis stay on top of crusts and hikers destroy the track, it sucks. It is generally expected that bootpackers make a bootpack, and skiers make a skin track, and that they stay separate.
  4. Haha. I don't know. I was too antisocial to go chat it up. Hey, BTW I resemble that remark!
  5. hey, did you guys go to Stuart? I had to bail for Mother's Day.
  6. To counter my last post, warming on Thursday should settle things down a bit, but I bet there will still be postholing. Also, under the new snow is a strong rain crust (I think). So you make the call.
  7. There was a foot of powder on Baker (above 6500 feet, Coleman-Deming route) last Thursday, with some evidence of developing windslab on leeward slopes (north-facing and such) due to high winds. Probably another few inches of snow over the last few days. I would personally be concerned about avalanche danger especially if windslab has developed on the North Face. And I would expect postholing.

    The Man Code

You have never been properly briefed on the 10 scale? What are we teaching our kids these days... Well I guess that means you probably haven't heard of the binary scale either...
  9. I'd say Bally's is full of shit... but that's just my opinion--I'm not a gigantic fitness corporation.
  10. Found him!! Now how do I wipe the thread?
  11. Only 6 miles? Well that's not so bad...
  12. Sounds good to me as long as you are prepared for the massive hike in and you get up the route before it starts to unfreeze in the morning sunshine. Let us know how it goes, I want to do it too! But when the road opens.
  13. We were supposed to climb something on Thursday, but never heard from him. Just want to make sure he's out somewhere waiting for a helicopter... hey, I think there should be a smiley for that. :helicopter:
  14. Fucking psychologists. "We're so smart, we measure a a couple things and use some big words, and now we have proven the existence of and can measure 'anxiety'..." Like I've said before, psychology is almost never a real science. And look at that data. I don't care what the P-value is, those numbers aren't passing the bullshit test... SD's about as high as the difference of the means. Classic psychology data. On the positive side, some smart and lucky climbers should have gotten some free climbing shoes, harnesses, rope, and climbing holds out of the deal
  15. Can the vibration caused by a helicopter set off an avalanche? Now THERE's your lawsuit!!
  16. And it is so cut down and simple... Did you try the BigJPG.exe thing yet? Awesome.
  17. Hmm... I'll have to check with my boss on that one In the past 6 months I have wasted more opportune days than any and all of you combined... and I still got more done than most. Yeah that's right--I do... nothing! haha. At least I don't have to until September. Well as long as you are willing to put up with my splitboard shenanigans I'm game.
  18. Oh by the way I thought you had Fridays off... what the hell you doin' on cc.com! Let's bear in mind, we're not talking about me here.
  19. Well I have just been bitter lately because I presently have no income, but a dire need of good topo-age (not surprisingly, the two go hand-in-hand). But this guy's program was like magic. That first "download" click made me feel just like a little girl again.
  20. Probably only if they were really really awesome (i.e. lots of sponsorship $$ for payoffs).
  21. Oh my god. That is f'in awesome. Now I don't have to steal TOPO! anymore. F#ckin $100 my ass. If I had a job I'd send some cash to this Pilot dude who wrote the software...
  22. Heliskiers? "Those f*ckin' hippie AT'ers are stealing our first descent!!"
