    martial arts

I used do Capoeira before the studio I used to train in closed. I would like to keep doing it but time limitations and the fact that the best school for it is in Seattle makes it hard to make it happen. -Mike
  3. Here's an online topo for those who like to climb on concrete. http://members.tripod.com/~Schryer/marymoore.html As for Spire Rock, I have the old guide from '82 at home. 6. without being a climber, I was quoted $43/ month for 500 thousand dollar policy. After I told them I was a climber, my rates are now $143/ month. They said the only reason I was allowed coverage is because I have Mt. Rescue and teaching experience. Good luck finding good rates.

    US debt

Not to worry, Bernanke will just print more money to pay of our debts.
  8. I don't know where to get them in Portland, but I bought mine at REI in Seattle a few years ago. You might try doing a search on their website.
  9. Breast feeding last night would be my top pick. Hi Lucky. I'll be at the Coulee this weekend with some people from TMR if your so inclined to join us. Rusty said he's coming also, so come on out.
  10. Personally, I like the older Leavenworth Rock: First Edition if you could get your hands on one. The new one is good, but the old one has good drawn out topos where as the new one just has pictures taken from varying views with lines drawn on them. Makes it kinda confusing if you haven't gone there a lot and are trying to find a specific climb. -Mike

    iPod Nano

I just recently bought a new mp3 player. I was going to get a nano, but then a tech nerdy friend of mine pointed me in this dirrection. http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=213&subcategory=1&product=9771 It's tiny, it holds 1 gig of music which to me is enough unless your using it to store music, and you can get it for a good price on Amazon. It also gets FM radio, it does voice recording and it even stores pictures and data files so you can just take your climbing pics stored on your MuVo to a friends house and plug it right into the computer. Just my 2 cents. -Mike
  12. Counterfist is the newest addition to my MuVo. There local (Seattle). You can check them out at http://www.counterfist.com/ with audio. They sound kinda like Tool and the Deftones.

    First lead

It's nice to hear of the younger generation appreciate the adventure of a climb as opposed to the difficulty and/or the extremity of a climb. Nice job Kelly.
  14. I was up there the same weekend as the Burninator and I would have to agree with having both ice axe and crampons. My partner and I brought up one pair of aluminum and one pair of instep crampons and each of us wore one of each type for the crossing. We wish we would have brought two pairs of alum. It would have make the crossing less sketch. It does get a bit steep just before getting into the gully to get to the notch and the axe would definitely help unless you have balance like a cat. Have fun and be safe.
  15. Whoops. Anyways if you find a PUR Hiker filter on the north side of the lake, it would be good karma to PM me so I can get it back even though it would be your rightful booty because of our mistake. Thanks
  16. My friend and I did the North Ridge of Stuart on Sat from Ingalls Lk. When we got done with the climb we hiked back to our bivy at the lake and filtered some water and ate dinner. We were still feeling pretty good so we decided to pack up and hike out. Somehow my partner forgot to pack my filter after he was done using it, so if you find a P
  17. Glad to see you finally got to climb it. Wish I could have been up there with you guys but I was to busy drinkin' (Autum and I's new hobby). The route is super fun for sure. Climb with ya later.
  18. Climbing up the snow after the treed ledge in rock shoes was one hell of a way to cool down the feet after all the climbing in the sun. Rock shoes don't climb up snow slopes very well for those of you who haven't tried yet. The day was beautiful a the climbing was fantastic. Hope everyone else got theirs this weekend.

  22. Broke my wrist last Dec. snowboarding. I didn't go to the doc for two weeks cause I thought it was sprained. Spent the next 7 months in a cast cause it was broken. Climbing is harder with a cast on. Go to the doctor and good luck.
  23. I think sublimation would cause that. The process of a solid turning into a gas without first turning into a liquid. As the gas was rising, some of the molecules probably refroze on the surface of the ice creating nice ice handles.
  24. I use the Gregory Swift. It's light and very comfortable. It carries 70 ounces of water and still has room for a powerbar. It also has a single daisy in the bottom center of the pack that you might be able to strap a shirt to. Here's a link to mountain gear that has them on clearance for 39.98. Peace. http://www.mgear.com/pages/product/product.asp/level1_id/0/level2_id/0/level3_id/0/item/102927/level2_title/
