Less than a decade ago, former Georgia Republican Congressman Bob Barr was the bete noire of the marijuana reform movement. Now, he works for it. That’s right, Bob Barr, the man who single-handedly derailed medical marijuana in Washington, DC, has been hired as a lobbyist by the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP). Ironically, Barr will now lobby for the rights of states to set their own medical marijuana policies without interference from the federal government. It was his 1998 “Barr Amendment” to the annual DC appropriations vote that blocked DC officials from counting the votes in that year’s medical marijuana initiative, which won with 69% of the vote.A former prosecutor in the Atlanta suburbs, Barr was always “tough on drugs,” but otherwise showed civil libertarian tendencies. After being defeated in 2002 in a campaign that featured attack ads using medical marijuana patients, Barr parted ways with the Republican Party, joining the Libertarians in 2006. He also became a lobbyist for his former arch-rival, the American Civil Liberties Union.

The argument in favor of digging for ore beneath your home and fabricating a car from metal that you smelt yourself is equally compelling. Ditto for drilling your own fillings vs sending the money out of your household by paying a dentist to do it for you, etc, etc. hmmm...buy locally produced food or growing a bit of lettuce in your own yard = drilling your own fillings for you. well sounds like you're convinced! interesting opinion you have there.

Controversies over Barr's personal conduct In 1999, during Clinton's impeachment trial, Hustler publisher Larry Flynt offered money to anyone who could provide evidence that a prominent Republican had engaged in an extramarital affair. According to the American Journalism Review,[73] investigators for Flynt said that Barr was "guilty of king-size hypocrisy". According to a sworn affidavit by Barr's ex-wife Gail: Barr (a longtime outspoken opponent of abortion) had acquiesced to and paid for the termination of his then-wife's pregnancy in 1983.[citation needed] In accordance with his public offer: Flynt subsequently paid a sum of money to Gail Barr after she had made her sworn affidavit.[12] Barr never publicly disputed the contents of his ex-wife's affidavit. voted "best discussion I've seen on CC.com for a while". Saddle mountain? I had to google a few pictures, but yes I "climbed" that mountain! Complete guard rails around the summit. It is actually a nice hike. I don't remember much about the summit other than its got guard rail all around it and I had to immediately summit the guard rail too. Also, the view was pretty nice from there.

I would think the drawback would be not being able to Twitter when at the crux of your new route. But seriously, i'd like a simple GPS as previously described. something very accurate on location (including elevation). I'd rather leave the phone at home or at least buried deeply in my pack.
