  1. The Tumwater canyon(castle, rattlesnake, midnight, ect...) is cool in the morning and the river is perfect for swimming in the afternoon.
  2. Leavenworth photographer Shane Wilder caught up with local hardman Super Dave Morales at Castle rock and shot these amazing photos. Dave's climbing is legendary, but he likes class V kayaking just as much! Ski pow.com - Super Dave And Crack of Doom: Dave on Crack of doom
  3. Is this how we do business? Stealing from the guys who do the diry work so the rest can enjoy?
  4. Aerial paragliding school in Cashmere
  5. Wow Chirp, great photo! Nature's reclaiming of the rock slide area is quite amazing.
  6. My faded memories suggest that there used to be an old rap anchor on top of this route. Is this not the case? Great route in a nice setting.
  7. Dawg makes a valid point. Not everyone will agree about everything. The route was scrubbed last summer and I said nothing here because it's 30 feet from The Fault, one of the most popular climbs in the area. Anybody can now look over and see that it's a good looking line. Don't be suprised if some of the other good routes in the area get brushed up this summer. We will have a cooler of cold beer waiting for those wishing to join us... including you Dawg.
  8. I'm quitting smoking cigs right now, maybe just steer clear of me for a little while. BTW, can any of you unchain me from the mast of the ship? I think I hear women's voices...
  9. Sorry Dawg, good catch. Yes, I am proud to clean the moss off of great climbs done in the past by people I respect so that they can be climbed by others.
  10. We have replaced many old bolts in the last couple years with new hardware donated by generous private donors. As my peaceful friend Spore has stated Castle Rock has received exactly no new bolts because Castle Rock is considered sacred ground to our people. *I however did remove, er... "enhanced" 90 cubic yards of dirt/moss and 3 hornets nests off of Clean Love, an excellent Doug and Karen Klewin route to the right of the Fault. Sorry everyone!
  11. So I threw a gauntlet out there and sat back for a while to watch the results. Climbing has always had these squabbles over style, ethics and personalities, but it's usually solved in person, face to face and hopefully over a cold beer in the parking lot or at the cliff. The internet changed all that. It may surprise some to know that I chopped a good friend's route last year. We talked it over as friends and we remain good friends to this day. We used the chopped hangers to establish a new route together and we all moved on. The big difference is we conducted our discussion in person, not here in a public forum for all the world to read because it's none of your damn business. The continual daily back and forth arguments that have come to define the PDX's reputation are one of controversy and mutual assured defaming. This reflects on you as a group. Airing all your dirty laundry every day on a public forum just says you can't solve your problems as regular people do. Poor form! Nobody like a complainer, and sometimes that's all we hear from some of you. You can't make us agree if we don't. only a fool thinks that. Actions always speak the loudest. Everyone respects those who walk the walk, not those those who talk and talk. This is not a blog, it's not a soapbox, it's place for people to share, laugh, discuss and celebrate climbing in all it's forms. I enjoy some of the content that people in your area post. they are climbing, they are stoked, they share. It's cool. Sometimes it's spray and that has a time and a place too. We're all smarter than the next guy right? Me? I don't really talk about my climbing, that's just me and I'm good with it. Many others here have different styles than me and that's great. There's still plenty out there for all of us. What you take away from this is up to you. Cut and paste whatever makes you feel better, but the bottom line is yelling back and forth every god damn day is like living in a great town but the people who live next door air their private business so loud no walls or fence is going to block it out. You can't help but listen at first, but in the end you just wish they would just shut the fuck up. I bid you good day. P.S. Checat- I work with Flyin' Brian. I showed him your quote. He thinks you should come up with your own material.
  12. Attention: As a free man of the great state of Washington I would like to take this moment to say that you are a bunch of clowns. The absolute drivel that you, PDX hardmen, continually slather each other with is not only embarrassing to read quite unhealthy for the greater population of normal, well adjusted climbers who made the simple mistake of living in your area. Think of the childern, think of somebody besides yourself for once. Example: A very good friend of mine, a good person who moved to your area and put up a few new routes now hates you all so much he quit climbing and now spends his days fishing. What did you do to him? Damn you all to hell! I find it hard to not want to build a trebuchet and hurl the lot of you into the cold dark waters of the Columbia river then bulldoze Beacon rock and build a wall out of it to keep you out of the great state of Washington. I shout at the top of my lungs that you, yes you, deserve each other. -Is it strange to you that you hear none of this limp discourse from residents of other areas? -Do you wonder how the rest of us get along without tottering old coots deciding what is right for us? -Why do you insist on endlessly waving your little flag hoping that somebody might stop and agree with you? We think you are a bunch of clowns. Think it over, argue the merits of your crags for another 26 pages and when you are ready, turn off the computer, go to the closet, put on your nicest clothes, go to a bar, talk to a real live woman, buy her some drinks, maybe a nice dinner, tell her her hair looks great, take her home... and get laid for once in your life.
  13. Funny, I priced out 50 foot commercial 2 ton load straps for around 50 bucks from a company who makes them custom for you. Sorry, but a slackline is just a big rachet strap. The MBS is the same, the WLL is the same, the SWL is the same... because they are the same thing, a big ratchet strap.
  14. Good to see 11worth TRs, lots of fun climbs over here. We have had an amazing spring, great weather and dry rock. By my count we've gotten out around 40 days this year.
  15. One full on bite, several caught before the managed to bite. Militaty BDU pants with the draw string around the ankles rock for this purpose.
  16. A big stack went off to REI, should be there soon.
  17. Buying your guide from the web ensures the product is picked from the box that day at the peak of freshness and shipped to your door in a discrete brown package. Copies are also currently available over the counter without a prescription at both Leavenworth climbing shops.* *Everyone enjoys a new guidebook, but please, do not ever attempt to read Leavenworth Rock and drive a car, motorcycle or heavy equipment. Always use a designated driver if you or someone you know is using Leavenworth Rock.
  18. The new Leavenworth guidebook by Viktor Kramer is finally here. Available directly from the author and at selected local retailers. Congrats VK! http://www.leavenworthrockclimbing.com/
  19. Heidelbuger to go, my back porch, views of sunset over the Icicle, beer in hand.
  20. Nice one, you are looking solid! Weather is great, we've been climbing for two months straight and the new book is out very, very soon.
  21. Are we talking about the same Forest Service that can barely afford to keep the lights on?
  22. I've been misplaced my silver Members Only jacket, cold brews for a safe return.
