  1. Vintage Fred!
  2. Gary, keep posting. Your pics are great and keep me stoked to get out and climb. Keep posting. As for the spray, it can be annoying if you let it get to you, it can also be good for a laugh if you change your perspective.
  3. I guess I should have seen that coming. Oh well, if you change your mind PM me.
  4. What is that picture John posted of?!?!?! it looks like Stuart in the Background. Come on, spill the beans!
  5. Thinking of climbing the Blackcomb Buttress with the wife this weekend. I plan on saving the money ($28.50) for the "Alpine Hiking" lift ticket and hiking up to the base of the route. I'd like to save my knees on the decent though, anyone know if you can down load for free?

  7. Nothing like a little chestbeating
  8. I'm thinking of heading out the the Knitting Needles this weekend? Any water in the area? Does Fantasia Pond dry up?
  9. Can't wait to hear about it.
  10. Have you gone back yet?
  11. I agree, 5.7, 5.7+, 5.8, who cares, it is all fun. Definitely should be climbed more often.
  12. I've climbed that variation. It is listed as 5.7 in the Smoot Guide (just on the topo if I remeber correctly). Lots of fun, solid pro, and good exposure. Plus, it is a great way to pass a slow party.
  13. How hard was the climbing through the knitting needles?
  14. What are the biggest issues for climbers in the park? Getting permits. How have they changed since you began climbing there? More people How is climbing in the Cascades different than climbing in other places in North America? Lots of long hard approaches with huge relief compared to most of the lower 48. How have they changed since you began climbing there? getting more crowded How would you describe your climbing style and climbing ethic? Alpine flailing, limited use of pins in the alpine are ok, but no bolts. What are the different kinds of climbers in the Cascades? Diverse, look at the trip reports posted here. What can you tell me about bolting in the park? I don't know of much if any.
  15. Thanks for the info, I'm thinking of taking my wife over Hannigan Pass and checking out the Chilliwack Valley and hopefully Easy Pass, Ridge, Whatcom Pass area. MAybe I can even run up something easy. If you have been in the area recently, I'd love to hear about it.
  16. Planning to do something for the coming weekend but haven't decided what yet. I haven't been out much and am wondering what the snow level is at various places in the Cascades. Tell me where you have been (location, aspect, elevation, amount of coverage, depth, etc.) and what you found. Thanks
  17. Squid, You Bigwall and I shoud do another trip together. Or... maybe we could paddle some whitewater. Variety is always good. By the way, did you ever make a clean run through Boulder Drop?
  18. I suspected as much, thanks.
  19. Anyone been up to Colchuck Lake area lately? Is the road still gated? Covered in snow? Is there a boot pack to the lake or would snowshoes be in order?
  20. Anyone been up to Colchuck Lake recently? Is the road still snowed in? Gated? Is there a bootpack all the way to Colchuck Lake or are snowshoes a must?
  21. Bill Sumner (FWA of Forbidden, various FA's: S. Face of Prusik variation, N. Face Vesper, something on Index, I think he was on the American K2 Expedition, etc) still climbs occasionally. He lives in Ellensberg. I know he soloed the W. Ridge of Stuart last summer.
  22. Last I knew shw was living in B-ham working for the USFS.
  23. Check out professorpaddle.com it is a pretty cool site with some good info. As for the rivers, I hate to break it to you but nothing is running. You better bring your climbing gear.
  24. I agree, I hate it when people steal or "dispose" of summit registers. I love being able to look and see the names and dates of climbers who came before me. Personally, I think it is pretty cool when you see Tom Hornbein's, Pete Shoening or Fred Beckey's name in a summit register from a climb that occured years ago.
