Damned nice time by the looks of it! -
Unless yr a juicer (Chronic Alchy) Id be looking at my diet a little more than the Whiskey. Given what has become the "normal" diet for the average person today (overall we consume about 25% more sugar in the last twenty years on average, and an amazing 27X more than what was likely the average circa 1890) its no wonder that high blood sugar and pre-diabetic conditions are so common. Our diet today is poinsening us in so many ways and leading to (increase in allergies etc?) the quick fix solution which is like playing russian roulette. Our common solution to upsetting our natual healthy chemistry with a bad diet and no excersize is to try to chemically counter the effects. This being so prevalent as an attitude just seems like the wrong approach imo. I wonder how a low glycemic index diet w increase H2O and excersize program would impact your "need" for the meds? Maybe youve already tried that though.

JayB Im not saying the US could just snap its fingers and behold, an "independent Tibet", just that there is at present no -as in zero- pressure on China to do any thing about Tibet. The party officials may laugh but they know they need the west to continue to modernize and develop as their actions have proven in the last 20 odd years. Human rights just arnt profitable enough for anyone accept Tibetans and their supporters to care about. Anyway, to the larger more on topic point, modern warfare from the uS perspective is really about stability, status quo, and to a great degree economics - maybe I should remove the qualifier "modern". Put another way, we get "interested" enough to take action (oravoid action if needed) when our "interests" are at stake.
-
matt said: Yeah,.. Who controls the power in the world? What is the great source of directed political and economic change on the planet? Who could provide the "luck" that Tibet needs to become autonomous in some way? Tibet is outta luck because the U.S. corporate economic machine is falling all over itself to get into the new vast market place that China will eventually be. They do not wish to disturb such a delicate and developing relationship which is the next great regional source of mega profit.

Thanks for this, its good advise and info. In my case, unless I unleash my expensive laywer, I am basically powerless to influence the situation. Im prolly a little biased because I cant stand my ex or her drugged up family. Half of them are on lithium or some kind of anti depressent and the comunication is somewhat lacking. In her family if anyone ever feels "sad" they run to the shrink and get doped up. In my day we had a few down moments once in a while but went with it. Now days it seems that if you ever feel even slight discomfort for a minute or 2 it is called "abnormal".
-
In her case though, they did no testing for the cause etc.. Neither side of the family has a history of allergies either. It seems odd to me and much too quick to jump on the "medical solution". Unfortunately, pills are the answer to everything these days it seems.
-
Just curious. Almost half of Americans (according to a 2 yr old CDC report) are on at least one prescription drug. According to 60 minutes last night there is a clear trend toward drugging our kids for things like "bipolar disorder" even at ages like 3-5 years old! Ive known parents who drug their kids with cough medicine to calm them down. My Ex (who has custody) just put my 11yr old daughter on prescription allergy meds (for the rest of her life?) as opposed to attempting to discern and remove the allergen from her environment. I know a lot of fat acquaintance's who opt for blood sugar controllers and blood pressure meds over diet and excersize. Seems to me like they are inventing more and more "diseases" all the time and inventing pills to take for them. Military Industrial Complex? What about the Medical Industrial Complex?

kevbone said Kevbone, you must admit, its painful to listen to pseudo-lefties trying to reduce their points to loud and crudely expressed sound bites the way they do with mastery on RWing talk radio. A left wing version of Limbaugh or Savage is oxymoronic at best.
-
Although I am basically in the "pro-choice" category for the time being, I have to agree with RDog, lets just call it what it is "killing babies". Maybe this would express the consequences a little bit clearer. Some other hypocrisies: We kill convicts, often due to their in ability to pay for an adequate legal defense - yet claim to call it "justice". We let kids die because their parents won't work 2 or 3 jobs just to pay for bullshit health insurance which ironically only covers a fraction of the medical costs. I could think of maybe 1 or 2 more so don't dare me...
-
like adopting the "rightwing talk radio" model ala "Air America"? How silly, trite, shallow and pathetic..
-
So true, and logical to boot. As an aside; I was going to "avoid procreative behaviors" by asking kevbone out for a date. But then, some guy from some church told me that "God hates fags!" so I plucked out my eye and chopped off my member in order to get myself right with bejeebus. Now I go round tapping my feet in restrooms, shooting doctors, and while out on mountain rescues I scream phrases to accident victims like "You do you accept bejeebus as your personal lord an savior right?" All this while wearing a condom on my stump!

Thanks FF, I wonder what this conversion might do to the quality of picture and sound vs the original file format. I guess Ill just have to give one of these progs a go and find out.

Im OTC leftwingy (on many things) but I have no issues w the ads being here. I admire da military grunt working class folk and the job they get called to do. I never blame the dogs for what their trained to do, just the owners/handlers <-subtle metaphor. I shop at PCC I hate Dave Mathews I generally enjoy violent sporting activities I hate Seattle liberals as much as.. ..I hate Jena LA redneck inbred racists thank you for reading goodbye its a nice day adios muddafukkas

Whats best way to take a high rez/high quality slideshow presentation from its current ".wmv" format and get it on to a common "dvd" disk playable by anyone with a dvd player? I don't want to lose either sound or picture quality if thats possible. Simplicity and quality are the priorities, followed by cost and timeliness. I don't want to depend on or lug around a puter and digital projector etc.. just to play wmv files! Any ideas? Programs? Suggestions? for a not-so-techie? Thanx D

Wow, sad news. More than the usual. Wonder what route they took on Dragontail? Peace be to their loved ones.

Of coarse I do, and onsight FAing is the really the most honest/pure kind of climbing there is. But still though, to find myself in a situation as you describe would in my opinion be a major fuck up on my part. So why would I want to carry a drill around with me (looking like an idiot btw) while climbing/rapping on existing routes that maybe hundreds of other people climbed/rapped before me without that need? Maybe learn to do rope lead soloing first, carry prussik loops, and practice getting out of such a situations with clean pro first before you start drilling for no good reason. I bet there is NO existing rap route that anyone here can think of that matches your description, in fact there can't be. Which means you just need to do your homework and ask around to get the route info. Are you saying you plan on adding some rap anchors to existing routes? That would piss off a few people I think. On the other hand, if your going to put up FA's then you should already know the answer to your original question because you already have vast experience and multiple climbing techniques and tricks in your bag to solve such a problem.

You could always channel RuMR instead, call yourself a bad name, and then threaten legal action against yourself like Fairweather would.
-
Jamin, its called reading the guide book, gathering beta etc.. The very fact that you ask this question should set off the following thought process: I AM NOT EXPERIENCED ENOUGH TO RAPPEL UNKNOWN OR UNCLIMBED OR POSSIBLY BLANK TERRAIN. For instances, How many fist ascents do you have? Probably as many as me ("0"). You really should have some first ascents under your belt before you find yourself in the type of situation you describe (Why?, because you should only be in that situation as an FA'r). Otherwise, just read about the ascent AND descent route and plan accordingly. Descending the way you describe means you are on unknown or unclimbed terrain OR that you are about to fuck up someone elses previously done clean climb by placing unnecessary bolts. Unnecessary because you should have done your homework and bit off what you could chew rather than fucking up and then having to hack up the mountain/cliff. To sum up, leave the drill at home and take a couple few years to learn to climb trad.

note matt, Im not blaming lawyers, just the hyper active overly defensive/greedy parents.
-
This kind of thing is happening for one major reason - lawsuits, or fear of them. Most teachers would be fine with letting kids play tag etc, but parents (most people in general) these days carry their attorneys phone number around with them and are quick to pull it out any time they believe their kid is "getting picked on". The trigger word unfortunately is "harassment". Unfortunately, this is the predominate force behind setting up policy for most organizations these days, not intelligence or common sense.
-
Why Doug, Don't you know, they volunteered for the NATIONAL GUARD to serve 3, 4, or 5 tours of duty, to leave their wife and kids for 3 or 4 years, to be fodder for IEDs! They knew exactly what they were getting into. Some give all, so others can HAVE all
-
All of which is confirmed by visiting a Seattle School Board meeting where parents scream and browbeat board members into submission and the board (volunteers!) dictates how to educate to the lifelong education professionals - ie teachers and District officials.

Its ok numbha 10, Im here to sooth you. btw, Im not liberal, Im extreme. Don't worry, Im sure Im on Fairweathers watch list by now. Probably F-dub will be contacting homeland security soon and or lawyer.

Just thought I should remind readers of your role here. Its good to know the real Fairweather is on the job. The arbitror of a free and open discourse of ideas.
