Anyone have the day off tomorrow(Wednesday) and want to go climb something?
Maybe S Face Prusik, or W Face Silverstar or something?
I know someone's got to have the day off....
Climb: Dragontail-Serpentine Arete
Date of Climb: 6/19/2006
Trip Report:
Went up to Dragontail Peak (again) and climbed Serpentine Arete yesterday. Left Stuart Lake TH a bit after 7am and had a leisurely hike up to Colchuck Lake. It was nice to hike the trail without snow on it this time. Not much snow left around the lake. And the slope up to the moraine is nearly melted out also. Crossed a bit of snow to get onto the route but no problem even in just tennies.
Rambled up the route, most of which is merely scrambling. The cracks near the pillar were a lot of fun. Made the summit at 11:30 and lounged around in the sun. Low clouds over on the west side, with Rainier up above was pretty spectacular. No clouds on the east side of the crest.
Took a nap and ate potato chips for a while before heading down.
Coming down Aasgard was a mix of snow and scrambling over boulders/dirt/wet moss/trees and shrubs. The snow was still just hard enough that in tennies it was kind of interesting but no major mishaps.
A good trip, fun route and nobody around...although I did see two people heading up to Colchuck Col.
Yeah I skied out on the trail...It's not as bad as it seems, although I have on many occasion, straddled a tree, caught a ski tip or ski pole on a tree, and once even nearly managed to fall into the creek....
good times
