Uh, they ARE represented, whether they join the union or not.
  2. No, of course not.

You only pay for representation and contract stewardship/negotiation, stuff like that. Not for anything big picture like political stuff outside of your local. Really? Are you a Beck Objector? I work with a few and nothing bad ever happens to them as a result of it.
  4. They use the water from Upper Snow to keep the 11worth hatchery in water. If you come up fom the Snow Lake side on the trail you can see evidence of this in the boulder field between Nada and Lower Snow. Way off to hiker's left there is a drainpipe thing squirting straight out of the side of the hill that is part of the system to get the water out of Upper Snow and a mile or so downhill to the hatchery.

Any individual who chooses to work in a union shop and not join the union is legally permitted to do so. This fact is based on a Supreme Court ruling in the case of Beck v. Communication Workers of America. I'm sure you can find more information on this on the interwebs. Please do not continue to tell lies about unions forcing individuals to join. There are several other mistruths and inaccuracies in your posts, but this one is perhaps the most glaring.
  6. I have one friend who went the Neo Vita route and she said it was a ripoff and didn't help a pretty standard case of PF.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the unions themselves, which are most democratic.

Sorry Jay I don't have the patience for debating unions today. I'm trying to learn how to tie a new fly.
  11. It takes a long time to adjust to FOs the first time you own them. Also what they are made of makes a big difference and varies from person to person. The QUALITY of FOs can vary a lot too. I've been a lab rat for the UW orthotics students for several years now and have gotten to try just about every material available to make FOs, and see a wide range of methods/approaches. These students are very close to graduation, so it's close to what they will be making in practice.

See, this is why I had to walk away from the discussion myself.

  15. I think podiatrists are quacks, however I can recommend a foot and ankle surgeon or two and I also know a very good orthotist.
  16. BTW a good set of custom FOs is made from actual plaster casts they make of your feet. That's part of why they are so 'spensive.

I'm a union member and I work for a living, and I have to say you sure about that?
  18. Yeah, you're going to need customs. My insurance pays for amputations but not prosthetics or orthotics. Good luck, and save your money. A real set runs 600 to 800 bucks.

Yes, I know what card checks are. Card checks have been a part of union organizing for a long time. I just don't see it analgous with a tame joke about having the KCLC fill out your ballot for you. I need to spend more time on the Heritage Foundation website, obviously.

Must be pretty rough, 'cuz I'm a union member and a voter and I'm not making the connection. I'd be happy to fill out your ballot for you if you need any help though.

  23. You're complaining because people think you look like Ewan McGregor? Surely you jest!
  24. I'm still looking for answers about changing my mood. I've tried taking pills and whatnot, but no change thus far.
  25. This one's pretty good: N. Cascades Geology And so is this one: Routes and Rocks, Crowder and Tabor The second one is high XC routes in the N Cascades and geography. Neither is specific to climbers, but I think you'll find them pretty close to what you are asking for. Pretty tough to find a copy of that second book. You'll pay real money for it.
