Skinning up Ballyhoo, Dutch Harbor AK

Looks awesome Jim! Just started to check it out and had to comment. Mt Erie is really coming into its own. Thanks for all your hard work. Its really great to finally get to read Chris Weidner's story about Dallas I have been looking for it in the NWMJ that has yet to be released(?). Glad to finally see it.

Ok no prizes except for the satisfaction of a job well done. How about a post devoted to photos of readers beloved vehicles? For example: This is Sketchy, a 1988 Subaru who is 197,000 miles young. Sketchy was abandoned in my yard years ago and brought back to full health with a little love and parts. Now Sketch lives full time in Dutch Harbor Alaska after being brought up to the Aleutian Island on the deck of a fishing vessel. She faithfully waits by the dock, rusting, for me to return every fishing season to drive her into the nearby by mountains for climbing and skiing adventures(and parts runs for the boat). Eventually I will probably end up putting my feet through her rusted out floor pans, but with a little fabrication she will continue to roll. It is nice when her moldy carpet freezes up for the winter and the mildew stench subsides for a while. Her boat primer paint job, brushed on with love has lost some of its luster but Sketchy still shines!

Sweet trip Dudes! looks stellar. How do you keep being able to get Gordo Fausto to guide your trips? I have not been able to get him to even answer my calls! My Himmelhorn bid remains a fantasy until Fausto commits! And is that another new set of planks on Kits feet? -
Guess you have never had a Trad or a swig of Wiser's on a cold winter night. And not a sip of Crown Royal? Shame....
-
Indeed a great trip. Thanks Jason and Gord for all the research and execution of a great plan. Always nice to draft on the contrails of this crew. And Kit gets the honey badger skin track award, even if he was just trying to stay warm! Heres a shot of Jason hard at work taking all the great shots, Why do I even bring a camera?

....To the best of my knowledge, the only route that has ever been climbed on Lincoln is the X Couloir. Its a good thing Lincoln did not make the top 100 peaks in WA, due to its classification as sub-peak of Baker, cause if it had, a lot less people would be completing that list!
-
Its hard to have a serious look at unclimbed winter ascents without thinking about Lincoln, sure some folks have skied it recently but not in Winter shape. And so close to the road....

Trent's epic quest of the Repulsive 69 is classic stuff..... http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=824825

I was thinking Jason, that if Tom goes and gets Lincoln, and Tim bags Agnes, then we can relax for the winter and ski fat pow!
-
Also; Lincoln Peak(the Black Buttes) Agnes?

Looks like a great trip Jason, cool that you and Kim got out before the big weather change. But why is that flask empty? -

Nice work Jens! When you climb J-Berg at the same age Dallas last did please contact: The Choss Dog Millionaires LLC and apply for the Ultimate Lifetime J-Berg Achievement award. You may want to check the rules, I think use of a drill is reason for dismissal. Extra points for climbing in woolen knickers and collecting social security -
I was using the said monocular to scout a new and bold ridge traverse from Corteo to Benzarino, so none of you route poachers steal my epic new line!
-
Left my handy black monocular or the summit of Corteo on 10/9/12. If anybody can fetch it for me before the snow sets in that would be great!

Right on Tom. Your willingness to repeat hard test-pieces is admirable. I do not think anyone is climbing in the Cascades as hard as you and Steph are. -
Good times guys! Looks like fun, and Trent knows how to bivy! Hope you brought Irish Whisky... But what do you mean...."end the Summer"? I just got home, its just beginning right?
-
This Gordo, how does one get in contact? Will he guide us on the Himmelhorn and play the accordion at Ma-Ma's Birthday? Can he teach the children a thing or to about this sport climbing they seem to love?

Sweet Guys! A great climb I took my biggest whipper I have ever taken in the mountains on that climb(if you can call WA Pass the mountains!). Luckily it was on a #3, it was a bit wet and greasy at the time. Strangely enough I fell at the exact same spot several years later when I was on second. Guess that off width is a bit too hard for me! -
