    Dream Gym

Having worked for EP on the Long Beach YMCA job, their design of having a bouldering tunnel with various pillars on the above wall side was great. You could boulder the cave/tunnel, as well as adding extensions to the lead where you boulder the cave, then attack the headwall through one of the various openings between the pillars. Very versatile.

  6. Spring is here, a-suh-puh-ring is here. Life is skittles and life is beer. I think the loveliest time of the year is the spring. I do, don't you? 'Course you do. But there's one thing that makes spring complete for me, And makes every Sunday a treat for me. All the world seems in tune On a spring afternoon, When we're poisoning pigeons in the park. Every Sunday you'll see My sweetheart and me, As we poison the pigeons in the park. When they see us coming, the birdies all try an' hide, But they still go for peanuts when coated with cyanide. The sun's shining bright, Everything seems all right, When we're poisoning pigeons in the park. We've gained notoriety, And caused much anxiety In the Audubon Society With our games. They call it impiety And lack of propriety, And quite a variety Of unpleasant names. But it's not against any religion To want to dispose of a pigeon. So if Sunday you're free, Why don't you come with me, And we'll poison the pigeons in the park. And maybe we'll do In a squirrel or two, While we're poisoning pigeons in the park. We'll murder them all amid laughter and merriment, Except for the few we take home to experiment. My pulse will be quickenin' With each drop of strych'nine We feed to a pigeon. (It just takes a smidgin!) To poison a pigeon in the park. --Tom Lehrer

    Crazy Colleagues?

When I worked in the fish business, there was this manager guy who smoked 3 packs of Pall malls straights a day. He would literally suck down a cigarette in three rastaman-like direct-lung pulls. He also drank coffee all day, then immediately switched to seven-and-sevens after work. We thought he was crazy, and were amazed every day when he showed up for work. I once knew this guy who had a pee-bottle in his rig...

    Crazy Colleagues?

I worked with a crazy carpenter this last year, he was my boss. He would mutter to himself constantly, and throw out an occasional "BillyBob!". Who knows what that meant. A few years back the voices in his head told him to cut a ring of bark off of all the trees in downtown Bellingham. Most of them died. His workspace was a disaster area, he spent half his time looking for misplaced tools. Great carpenter, though.

    The Pedo-Files

E! will use verbatim testimony to reenact entertainer Michael Jackson's sexual misconduct trial like the TV network did during O.J. Simpson's murder trial. "This is at its heart a very serious matter, and it will be treated as such," E! President Ted Harbert told skeptical critics Tuesday. Actors will use verbatim transcripts to recreate testimony at Jackson's trial and "will not be overly sensational," he said. E! will air its reenactments a day after actual testimony, Newsday reported. E! also reenacted testimony during Simpson's trial in the 1990s, in which he was found not guilty of killing his wife and another man. E!'s move came after a judge ordered that there be no live media coverage of Jackson's trial on child abuse charges. Jury selection is scheduled to begin Jan. 31.
