  1. Unde $30 @ Costho.
  2. Seriously if you have ever wanted a pair of skiboards here is your chance to own the original. The Kneissl Big Feet measuring in at a whopping 65cm. That’s right the "Big Feet" you have been salivating over for so long can be yours. These are not shinny and new but they are still in good shape. Retail they go for $200; I am asking $65 or trade for? Perhaps a "quarter" for all you home gardening enthusiasts.
  3. How about a look into Rescue Cost Recovery and exactly how much of that cost actually exists. Examples might include, volunteer efforts (free to the public), National Guard training (already budgeted), etc. With an focus on the current climber registration fee hikes in MRNP.
  4. Still got them ropes?

C.J. sounds like my kind of climber. Gun tote'n, bowl smoke'n bad ass. If in fact C.J. actually exists
  8. As for the heli ride, that is one I have yet to try but I gotta admit video clip aside it looks like a hoot.
  9. Invincible, I am not. I have had my share of close calls. My training is on-going as it should be for anyone who climbs recreationally or professionally. A hero I don’t want to be. But if I am in close proximity to an accident I have what is called a “Duty to respond” as should all climbers. I have had trips altered due to climber accidents on a few occasions and more often than not it is from operator error. This thread has digressed. As for the heli ride, that is one I have yet to try but I gotta admit video clip aside it looks like a hoot.
  10. The point I was driving at. Thank you.
  11. My point was simply to emphasize that with my experience you grow accustom to the sight of such an incident. Judging by the reactions posted herein I got the impression that people got freaked out. Look at it objectively. Learn from the example. I was not boasting. The gumby comment is self evident, and get over yourself. Touchy little gumby, aren’t you.
  12. It’s a sad fact ladies and gentlemen, grim as it may be, this is the ultimate reality of what we elect to do. Knowing full and well that we all take risks we need to be ready to face the possibility that one day we may be forced to confront this reality. What will you do when somebody else’s shit goes down hard, will you be mortified? Or will you detach yourself from your visceral response and respond in a cool and calculated manner. As a high angle rescue trainer / rope rescue technician and first responder, when I am in the back country I am constantly on the lookout for Gumby’s. Fingers crossed in the hopes that my trip isn’t soiled by someone else’s misfortune. Be safe y’all.
  13. Im psyched! However April 7th isn't that early but I'll take it. Take a look at the opening dates for the last thirty years, mid April is the most common. See ya'll out there.
  14. Man is the best computer we can put aboard a spacecraft and the only one that can be mass produced with unskilled labor. -- Wernher von Braun
  15. Thank you.
  16. Careful, that shit comes off quick. I don’t know about the flake in question but I did pull of the prominent flake on the town crier about five years ago. It was the size of a door about three and a half feet wide, six feet tall and about four inches thick. My feeling is if it is a well traveled route and it is in question it should be cleaned.

  18. Refer to previous post.
  19. None. If they have teeth like the petzl ascention they are very dangerous for use as a self belay. The teeth on the petzls are reported to sever a rope at around a thousand pounds of force.
  20. All I can say is I feel your pain. Twice now, once in P-town ($4000) and again in Seattle ($2500). The best way I have found to deter the little bastards is to ride a stout well tuned beater for cite commuting and save the high end bike for trail or road riding. If you go with a new bike chip the paint, sticker the shit out of it, remove any trace of a brand name. And use at least two different kinds of locks. I use a "U" lock and a cable lock. Good luck.
  21. Comfort the lame. I think I'm going to cry.
  22. Mostly olympics and southern cascades stuff. www.extrapolation.com
  23. Looking at the thin red line as an early season solo objective. As soon as the pass opens (should be early this year). Has anyone done it solo? Wanted to do it in winter but Im way to lazy to hump in any further than I have to.
  24. Not a winter photo but what the hell. There is your bloody summit.
  25. First off f**k next adventure/rip off artists. If you have to go the route of a used gear store and you can wait untill your next trip to the Seattle area give Second Ascent a try. They know there stit and give you a fair deal. Secon what was the ticket for? Is the rock closed, or was it that damn parking scam? Sorry to hear about the ticket, come close myself many times. (during closures that is)
