John you should proabaly bitch about length ratings after you repeat the routes and I can assure you some of the rock climbs are index stoutness all day... Isn't that the things with new or obscure routes, there is little consensus or confirmation, as such the character will change as more ascents are done and more information is gleaned.

i don't think there is any real rules out there, but it could get eaten.

BUMP!!!! Just wanted to bump this thread to let y'all know that these guys have been running around the stuart range with giant loads of gear getting some really amazing shots for the slide show. My wife and I will be hosting a pre-party at our place in leavenworth before thursday's slide show. Everyone is welcome, stop on by. I'll provide some type of drink and munchable. Out-of-towners are welcome to camp out in the backyard. It should be a great event and i'd like to see lots of local climbers and out-of-towners show up. The Beta: 245 Center St. in Ltown (3 blocks from the show at Leavenworth Mountain Sports) From hwy 2 (eastbound) turn left onto Ski Hill Road, 3 blocks to Center, take a right, House on right with giant red roof. Slide show starts at 6:30 so pre-party starts around 4ish, hope to see you there.

I haven't been up there but it's usually gone by mid august most years.

The Scoop saw a bit of action this week. On tuesday Jens and Max repeated the climb with Jens making an onsight ascent. On wednesday Blake and I climbed the route after climbing The Tempest earlier in the day for a double scoop link-up. All parties were truly impressed with the route. The scoop is one of the best pitches in the range with 55m of sustained, steep, thuggish, rockclimbing. Equally impressive were the two finishing pitches which were delicate and thought-provoking. Nice job you guys, stylee route put up in impecabble style!

in my experience the reverso will belay fatter ropes easier than the guide atc. with that said, i prefer and use the guide atc, i just don't autolock a second if we have a thicker cord (usually when cragging).

I talked to julie brugger recently and she does not think slings and arrows and acid baby are the same route or are even on the same formation. Personally i think who did what first, what pitch where on what route, blah blah blah, is kinda pointless in the enchantments. It's all climbable, it usually protects naturally, and every winter it growns a new coat of lichen. I think the important thing is improving the condition of these neo-classics so that they do not get lost into obscurity again. I think next season will be the year of the major variations, there's quite a few out there...

The hitchiker is good but not nearly as quality as the passenger. It's definetly a bit forced and wanders around a bit. The 11b trad crux is engaging and freeing the A0 section toward the top of the route is tricky. Good line but not so classic.

The Passenger is easily one of the best lines at the pass. Once you climb it, it's a great stand-by if you can't think of something new to get on at the spires. Great to see that big daddy brandon is still getting out.

Yes, new rockfall. I have climbed it both before and after and that spot has changed very much!
