Smartwool mountaineer suck the big hairy . Mine got wet, stank like nothing I've smelled before, wouldn't dry with body heat overnight, have a sloppy fit, and SUCK. I switched to thorlo (?) synthetics and am very very happy. No stench, dry fast, comfy, and at the end of the day they have not wadded up so half the sock is in the toe of my boot. Suckwools might work OK for day trips, but for winter overnighters I wouldn't use em.

Two or three feet is enough to create a 1 foot thick slab that can take you for a ride, maybe even bury you if the terrain is right.

Get brakes. Getting smacked with a ski sucks, and losing a ski because it tore the strap off your leg sucks worse. They're worth the money. I like Ascensions. I'm sure that G3s are good, too.

I worked on Saturday, skied knee deep pow today. First day of skinning from car/skiing to car this season.

Any glove will get wet in the rain. Google Vinylove for truly waterproof gloves. Golite pants are weird. Short legs for each size, no crotch gusset, not very 'athletic' cut, kinda boxy but not loose. I like their jackets better than their pants. I don't see why you'd want such light poles (I use my Black diamond flicklocks for everything), but if you don't want to use poles to set up your shelter, I'd go with the Megalite, which comes with a center pole.

I got a fold in mine when I got the fitted by the 'pro' at Feathered Friends. The fold packed out and doesn't bother me anymore.
