mtnfreak- I have thought the same thing myself. I was hoping to build a reporting type system for cc here, but wasn't sure how much it would be used. My idea was to make a structured form (much like the Trip Report application), that would make avvy reports a bit more structured, and searchable than say this message board. My thought was that people could post near misses, as well as data/info they have collected while digging pits or traveling in the backcountry. I think nw avy center is on the right track with their blog idea, but its just like a message board where stuff really isn't structured and info isn't very easy to search in there. But honestly how many folks would take the time to post snow conditions they have found on a trip?

you know one other thing, moving spray gave you pud pullers something to whine about on this fine tuesday morning. so you should be thankful you didn't have to discuss the pros/cons of Hans Blix's new book, or perhpas another exciting thread on gay mairrage, or [insert common spray discussion topic here]

i suppose i maybe not hard enough, but every trip i have brought my axe on, it has always stayed srapped to my back pack. so what i gather is the whippet is primarily usefull whilst skinning on sketchty terrain, and for gougin yourself when falling on the descent? i'm thinking a light axe might be a better option, maybe i'll deploy the joshk duct tape technique. i think my spelling has gotten very poor since i skied with fejas this weekend.

you all are so fucking suck. discuss.

i usually import my wimmin from prineville or burns, so don't worry about lack of fine choices within bend. besides country girls are much better than patagucci wearin bend girls. I represent the EAST SIDE up in here. I guess i'm not truly east side, but kind of middle central. If i were a single young buck, i'd definately do the west side thing, get myself one of those cruise bikes, which i could ride to drake park and play hackey sack, or maybe get involved in that club that does cool medieval duels in the park. Nevertheless, bend is a happenin great town. plenty to do and see, and drink and eat. Let us know when you arrive and we'll through a pub club so you can meet up with some of the SICKEST mofo's this side of the cascades.

With spring officially just a few days around the corner, and the recent snap of spring like weather, I can't help but notice that an interesting outdoor phenomenon is happening yet again. I'm not quite sure if it is our internet, want it right now attitude, or perhaps we are tricked to easily be retailers flaunting the next season's gear; but during the shoulder seasons (Fall and Spring both), folks seem to hurry up and get their panties in a bunch for the next big thing. It seems as soon as the first sign or hint of spring hits, folks toss the winter garb into deep storage, and rush out to begin summer time activities. Likewise in the fall, the same gear that is being busted out this week gets tossed and folks pull out the ski's or ice tools and obsess over the forthcoming cold/snow. My friends, spring and fall are perhaps some of the most enjoyable times to be outdoors, celebrating and enjoying the things we love to do. The smells and sounds of the seasons changing in the mountains is perhaps one of the most amazing and beautiful things I have ever seen/felt/touched/smelled. I'm personally so excited for spring that I sometimes have a hard time sleeping. Being able to climb up firm snow in the morning, glisse down velvet corn in the afternoon, and all the while have my senses bombarded with the smells and touch of spring, it doesn't get any better. So I'm not sure the purpose of my rant, but get out there and enjoy the wonders of Spring... resist the urge to enter full on summer mode... stay away from summer gear swagolouges, and enjoy this fantastic season. Get Sum.
