this whole thread annoys me to no end First of choada boy-- yeah the shit in darfur is more important to the world than this achievement. but are you spending every waking moment or even very many of them doing something about it? second of all - the world is more interesting place b/c people do unique and challenging things. perhaps we should all be out trying to save the world all the time but that would leave us devoid of great piano concertos and stunning olympic performances. she climbed something bad ass. WTF is so wrong w/acknowleding that? there's no hero worship going on here. some of us are just capable of saying "good job" when someone does something interesting. fuck people! quit being such fuckfaces!
-
i wasn't hatin on just you. i was hatin on all of the haters who are hating for a variety of hateful reasons
-
*I* have no idea what hard climbing feels like. and i sure the hell don't want to come off like i even remotely understand in climbing terms what was involved w/doing it. i just think it sucks that some people have to be so lame.
-
stoopid dru! i should've known it was him!
-
oh good grief, you people are idiots today. recognition? how did that even become an issue? seems a bit presumptuous since the climber in question hasn't said anything about it. as for the concert pianist brightening the world for others, what a load of crap. anyone who practices and/or trains to do something at an extraordinarily high level is doing it for selfish reasons. personal satisfaction. the same reasons most of us climb. if the world is a brighter place, great. if not i doubt they care. they may be an attention whore and like to perform in front of an audience for the applause...selfish. they love the music and want to perform it perfectly...personal and selfish. who cares what the underlying reason why she climbed it was? it's an impressive accomplishment in part b/c it took that level of practice. i used to be pretty damn good at my chosen sport (which is not climbing). that took years and years of practice. and still does 30+ years later. all of that practice might lead to an occasional performance that was nearly perfect. a mere 2-3 minutes of time and it could take months to prepare for it. completely selfish. no one was getting anything out of it but me. and yeah it could easily take months of preparation and practice before attempting certain levels of competition. sure it was easier after the first time but it could take months and years to get to that point. imo, you're foolish if you don't think this is an accomplishment b/c she "rehearsed" it.

you say that like tying you down is a bad thing
-
Yeah, fucking and jacking off are the exact same thing. they are for some people. other people are good at fucking
-
other people probably did say i want to grow up and be a computer geek. the point is that there is no point when any young girl says "hey, i WANT to be a whore"
-
LMFAO!!!!! no they say i want to marry a rich guy.
-
regardless, i think marriage is overrated but you can argue for societal stability and i won't think you're an idiot.
-
I've never paid for sex, but I've been to plenty of strip clubs in my youth, and I have to agree with your sentiment. I always thought - "man this is for losers - what's the point?". If you have to pay for it, you're lame. marriage has been put in place by most cultures at some point for one reason or another. religious, control, and quite often financial. "you marry our daughter and promise to feed and house her and we'll give you a dowery" and sometimes the merging of families and their businesses.
-
schedule the honeymoon before the wedding. 10 days alone w/someone should be a pretty test to see if you REALLY want to get married
-
nope...whatever arrangements make a marriage work. no worries. none of my business

SC-- what a dull world if i wasn't impressed by something. i'm not impressed by much but certainly much more than raindawg. i think the moments in life when you can say "wow, that's amazing" are fantastic. life would be kinda dull w/o them.

marriage is PITA. you either choose to work your ass off at it for whatever the perceived benefits of it are. or you don't. i'm not really sure its worth it. its really not much harder to get divorced than it is to break-up with someone. in some ways, i think its a bigger commitment to stick out the tough times when there's no legal obligation to do so. people get married for anyone of a number of reasons. it means different things to different people. that's cool and if you get married you should respect the reasons you decided to do it. i got married. for a number of reasons.

i think that's the supersecret cc.com female-to-male filter in effect. sometimes people just hear stuff that was never said
-
Rob you're absolutely right. i think the statistics bear that out as well. men and women cheat in similar proportions. the point is that the public figures survive sex scandals all the time. unless its male-male. no one said that a woman involved in a sex scandal with a man couldn't survive it as well. the person in question w/this story is male
-
You're being facetious, right? Sex scandals, unless they are about men with men, don't seem to hurt men too badly. Look at Bill Clinton! I'm never surprised when I hear of a male politician involved in a sex and/or prostitution scandal. yup!
-
as usual, you don't provide a direct answer to a direct question. what would impress you? i don't give a fuck what doesn't impress you b/c that list is endless.
