i said it was girly and froo froo which is not my drink of choice. gin and tonic or scotch rocks
-
best girly froo froo drink i've ever had. vodka, 7-up, grenadine and cream...topped of course w/a cherry.

trask, you're my hero

i kinda like the boys. too many women in one place can be dangerous.

For me, it was actually the other way around. I saw a good friend take a ground fall soloing. I had no desire to climb after watching him bounce off the deck ... until I saw Muffy on the rock with appropriate gear and the such. my ISO started climbing b/c i needed a partner and most of my friends had "retired" i'm curious b/c i've met several women lately who started climbing b/c of their boyfriends.

why do i find it so funny when "big" philosophical questions are discussed/debated in spray?

i'm still trying to figure out what the hell one would have to do at the mall that couldn't be done else where and why 2 days in a row. i can't remember the last time i was at a mall.
-
this does make me wonder what proportion of female climbers started climbing w/their boyfriends or b/c of their boyfriends.

had an up close w/a bear the other day! they're awfully big and scary

why would they not??? b/c welfare is a meager existence at best. i agree that multigenerational seems to perpetuate its self. however, it would seem that the humane way to change the situation is to provide opportunities to move up from that situation. obviously, not everyone is going to take the opportunities provided to them. i can tell you that if i had not been fortunate enough to have an education and have been lucky enough to have a good family and had the timing to land a job when i did, i would've been part of the welfare roles and getting off would've been incredibly difficult. surviving as a single parent is not an easy task. lacking the skills and resources to provide for a child does not give people many options for getting off of welfare. and for those of you about to spew forth about not having kids if you can't afford them. skip it. it's a pointless argument.

my friend's truck was left w/it's WA plates, in a turn out along the highway to squamish for several hours w/a fair amount of gear in it w/ no problems. Shit happens everywhere. the incident in question is truly unfortunate. but it could've happened here so don't be so shocked and offended that it happened in Canada. In fact, i seem to recall several violent incidences that happened to innocent muslim citizens of the US not so long after 9-11.

this topic has far too many deep philisophical facets for the likes of cc.com

Fence, not to nitpik any more than necessary. The implication of the way you phrased your post was that all welfare is superfluous. it is not. That and my views are skewed b/c i continually hear the cries of the repubs to completely dismantle welfare.
-
superfluous welfare? i think abuse of the welfare system is a HUGE problem but what is it w/people who can't get your minds around the concept that sometimes it is good to help other people??? At one point in my life i was VERY close to spending some time on welfare. Thanks to my very cool family that didn't happen. Many many people are not so lucky. Should we abandon those amongst who are less fortunate?
