hmmm...seems to me that there's a whole bunch of other forums on this board with a whole lot of posts about recent trips to a whole lot more places than you've got in minnesota. and what do all those posts have in common? they're about climbing. here's the trick chaps, we've got a sense of humor. the entire existence of the climbers on this board isn't climbing even though most of us wish it were. we'd probably still laugh and have a sense of humor if all we did was climb. try laughing out loud sometime chaps. it feels good. go for it.

before we get started lets save the permit debate for another time. i'm not a big fan but we're going for a week so we got one. my question is this: the permit we received says we're supposed to enter at the stuart lake TH and exit via Snow Creek. does it really matter? do they screen this stuff at all?

hey all, i think that this particular example may be a bit extreme as there is plenty of beta out there. BUT everyone has there own comfort level and enjoys climbing in different ways. the tone of the whole thing was such that only one approach seemed correct. llarry will do it as he does and newbie will be comforted by lots of info. there's points on both sides and remember there is more than one way to skin a cat.

my ire wasn't specifically aimed at you although that kind of spray could probably stay in spray (funny tho it was). i just think it's wrong when a bunch of hardmen w/lots of alpine experience make fun of this type of post. there's plenty of climbers out there who have much limited repetoire. althought the best part of an alpine adventure is the adventure, i can understand some guy thinking "hey beckey says it's 5.7+ that could mean anything from 5.4 -5.9. I lead 5.8 pretty comfortably but...." he alpine adventure makes it a little more daunting to screw up. i'm sure this novice is wanting to make sure he's choosing something he's capable of climbing safely. some folks are not as bold as others.
