  1. Yeah, it had an effect on me. A while ago I shaved my beard and was planning on leaving the stache with handlebars intact. Thought twice about it and clipped those stiff, well cultivated bristles right off. Now my mullet stands alone: the party in the front just ain't same with only one.
  2. Order of difficulty from hardest to softest (in my mind): 1. Joshua Tree 2. Index 3. Yosemite 4. Leavenworth (almost the same as Yosemite) Obviously there is a wide range of ratings in any one area. (say that ten times fast) Still, I feel there is a common thread and a common standard to most areas. Worst comment EVER!
  3. Heading to Leavenworth tomorrow morning. Will be meeting others but have room for a partner of my own to bring. Trad, Beer and good times guaranteed. Will return on Sunday unless weather is unbelievably henious. In the case that weather is less than perfect Stevens Pass ski area is a second option. Will be leaving from Seattle/Capitol Hill area. 4. Yeah, rumor is that everyone is gonna stop climbing on BD cams real soon. You should sell yours while you have the chance. What sizes do you have Mr. Cooper? And where did you read this? (seriously this time)
  5. "GW's father was much better at negotiating" true dat, climba!
  6. My point is that Bush comes off more than just a little bit blunt and scary to foriegn leaders (and quite a few Americans). Obviously the French were more than a little untrue, but I think a more articulate and well spoken leader could have dealt with the UN in a way that would have given us more world support in this war. Bush and Fleischer come off with an aire of superiority and cockiness that is not good in any world leader and that scares people. Bush's background and blunt speeches also smack of empire building to many who see them-not good when you're trying to build support for a war.
  7. There would never be launching facilities. That would be far to difficult for the Iraqis to obtain with everyone looking over their shoulders. If Saddam had plans to deliver a nuclear, chem or bio strike against us it would have made use of our open borders and the ease with which such weapons can be brought into our country. It could be about to go off right now. That's what this is about, not the potential for ICBMs coming from Iraq (pretty unlikely).
  8. There may not be a link between Saddam and 9/11, but that is not the issue here: there is an obvious link between Saddam developing and storing up weapons of mass destruction and his on-going hatred for America. He has been building up weapons and funding sneaky little projects since Gulf War I but we let it slide because we didn't think he could hurt our homeland. 9/11 is proof to both Saddam and America that weapons and plots can be used very effectively against us in our homeland. Given time he would surely have struck us in a similar or more devastating manner to 9/11, that is why we can no longer tolerate his presence. While war should always be the last resort in a conflict between countries, diplomacy is pretty much a waste of time with Saddam: we already had as much control over him in a non military sense through the 90's as was possible. War was the only option to disarm him. I detest Bush and his idiotic speechs, and I feel he could have handled the UN quite a bit more effectively, but I support this war and I think our military is doing a great job of protecting civilian life in Iraq while destroying Saddam's regime. If you do not support the war and the politicians at least support the troops who are over there making sacrifices to protect us: they don't make the decisions but they do all the work. Nothing is more sick than the video clips of people spitting on Vietnam vets as they returned home and I hope that doesn't happen ever again, no matter what the conflict is. 9. I'm glad I prepared for this holiday: I got wasted all fucking weekend! It's the best way to make sure I'll go to work tomorrow. One Guinness and I'll turn in. As far as the Black and Tans go I think they are safe to order in Seattle. I tricked Charlie into ordering one at Molly Maguires yesterday and they didn't even say anything to him. They did pour a shitty beagle though.
  10. Yes indeed. The Jack Russell Terrier is a fine animal, although somewhat primitive and prone to hyperactivity. But 'goll he's cute on Frasier!
  11. Yeah, the poll showed what I thought it would: most people prefer Camalots. I bought all Camalots to begin with but now I'm finding that I like Metolius a lot, both small TCU sizes and the larger "Power" Cams. They're great to double with Camalots. My largest cam is a DMM #4 and I like it a lot for alpine climbs-it's very lightweight.
  12. As Nelly said earlier: I took a look at the Dragonfly today and it is NOT the same material as my jacket. It is quite a bit lighter actually. The design, cut and features are identical though. I don't know why they went lighter, my jacket is very packable and lightweight (balls up a bit bigger than a fist), offers good protection and is tough enough to take some heinious chimneys and offwidths with very little damage. Looks like they made a poor "improvement" in the search for better numbers (ounces) to me.
  13. I just bought some Oval Wires today and I think they are a really great biner design. They are easy to clip (I tested in the store) and still have the smooth oval design I like. They also seem to be larger than regular ovals and capable of clipping more at one time without hangups. They are also pretty lightweight. I think these are the best multi-purpose biners I've ever seen, great for aid, alpine or even sport if they were in quickdraws. And who asked what ovals are good for? The price ain't bad either. Here's a link: http://www.bdel.com/gear/rock/oval_wire.php
  14. I don't think that's a very appropriate thing to say about someone you don't know. It also bad grammar. Clean up your act son, and stop being such a party boy yourself.
  15. Update! He just yelled: "Children of the darkness, children of the light! Our generation will have to repent!" Then he ran into the street and pretended to be shooting a machine gun. A few minutes later he came back in with $10 and bought more coffee. I'd pretend to shoot a machine gun all the time if people gave me tens like that. Now he's on a computer and saying "gigobyte" and other computer nerd words in a fake cockney accent. -ScottP my autosig does make sense, it is describing an imaginary situation in which Ginger, Marianne and Mrs. Howell are robbing Mr. Howell, the Skipper and the male cast members of Gilligan's Island. The description is by popular rap artist "Methodman" and might prove difficult to understand for some.
  16. Yeah, I think so. Holden markets Opels (the Astra for instance) under their name. They also have a little SUV called the "Jackaroo" that looks suspiciously like a Chevy Tracker. I'd trade them all for a V8 Interceptor, and a cattle dog named "dogmeat" of course.
  17. Going to California, What Is and What Should Never Be, Good Times Bad Times Yeah, radio is not great, but KZOK and 99.9 are usually pretty good. The Metallica A-Z weekend was great. Even those pretentious rocker DJ's they have on 99.9 are clever at times.
  18. No, this guy's performance was definately not planned. He's just freakin' out and speaking in tongues and making noises between ryhmes. Neon Browne eh?
  19. Bad Company fucking rocks hard and there's no denying that. It is not geezer rock either. Quote from Dave "I'm hoping to replace High-Pitch Erik on the Howard Stern Show" Schuldt: Don't tell me you have a "penace"
  20. I'm in a coffee shop and this crazy guy is shouting out poetry and weird shit. Here's what he had to say: i’m looking for buddah it’s a girl the best of them are the funny farm- the funny farm and I’m all ‘hey man!’ ‘that’s my tongue!’ “how did it get in your mouth?” i don’t cry tears i cry other people’s tears. caster of the bones reader of the tea leaves the rats were obsessed w/ electricity and stealing it from the farmer Interesting, guy.
  21. Looks like you're the only one that's answered that poll FAD. So now that you have a new avatar pic do you know the body temperature of a dog?
  22. Check out these cars from Australia: This Holden "Rodeo" has a 2.8L Turbo Diesel. Great idea to put a fuel efficient low RPM high torque diesel in a pickup. I'd buy one if they were marketed in the states. If only Ford or Toyota would sell a compact Turbo Diesel pickup-use the diesel efficiency to get good mileage and decent power in a smaller truck. Makes sense for most offroad applications too. Check out the cool car that Ford sells to Aussies: a five litre V8 Falcon! Why don't we get these? I heard we might get them soon, that would really change the import street racing scene. Fast as fuck I'll bet.
