  1. Szyjakowski, why am I not surprised? Dude, you got to come up with a shorthand for your name.
  2. Last call. I've got one taker. We leave Seattle at 1 pm.
  3. Leave the fucking Subject Alone
  4. Safety meeting? Is that what he does during those brief absences? I thought he was going to take a leak.
  5. I think Erik is about as close to himself on cc.com as he is at PubClub. Of course, you can't smoke weed in a bar, but other than that he is himself.
  6. You don't have to go to Australia to get sprayed. You can spray and be sprayed right here.

    Annoyances

That would be my wife. She and my daughter are the same way. They are completely unable to distill a series of events to the essential and tell a story. They get mad when my attention wanders.
  8. Are there any other slackers out there who would like to Exit 38 this afternoon? The weather is supposed to improve this afternoon and besides there are places that we can go that stay dry even in the rain. Send me a PM if you are interested.
  9. Joe_Retard and mattp
  10. I think YOU found out the hard way, didn't you trask? That disinfectant is all sticky and stinky, isn't it?
  11. Yep, I'd bet that would do the trick!
  12. Blimey, but that JGowans can run! Note to self: don't go running with college track star partner 13 year my junior without expecting to get my ass kicked.
  13. Perfluorinated compounds have some interesting properties. They carry high amounts of oxygen, for example. You can breath certain of these compounds. Remember that movie The Abyss? I'm just going to throw out some more technical jargon and see if it causes fleblebleb to self-desctruct: The way perfluoroctanoic acid works is that the carboxylic acid end of the molecule which is polar attaches to the nylon of your garments and the non-polar hyrophobic part sticks out to repell water.
  14. Most rock would explode before it melted. A nice tall tale though.
  15. Anybody notice how Harry Pi and Sexchoc dissappeared at THE SAME TIME!!!! Harry Pi is still around. He posts more often as a different avatar these days. Harry is a rather flat character anyway.
  16. The answer is a percieved lack of consequences for churlish (and childish) behavior. I think a lot of people chafe all day long at work having to rein in their more vulgar instincts. They can "let it all hang out" and say all the nasty things they would like to say to their bosses.

    my love

    True love. George and Tony.
  18. Hmm, have "someone" post a TR...oh, I get it. I wouldn't be the one to do it because I would be dead. That's funny.
  19. I tried leading a 5.10c at Nevermind Wall. Nevermind that I had only ever even top roped a 5.10b. It was a quixotic quest from the start, but nothing ventured nothing gained. With this thread from The Prophet for motivation I went for it. I found that I actually could make the moves and clipped three of the four bolts, but my arms ran out of gas with my face in front of the fourth bolt. I had a good hold for my left hand but my right was so pumped, I couldn't even squeeze the gate on the draw to get it off my harness. I pitched off with little warning to my belayer. He was hauled two feet in the air, but held my fall. It was the first leader fall he had ever held. Glad he kept his wits about him. Goddam, I'm going back and send that sucker and soon.
  20. The Mountaineers teach their students to avoid the American Triangle as does every other climbing organization. Using specially designed rap bolts is considered safe if both bolts are solid. The use of one or two slings on each bolt is "ultrasafe"- Solid Redundant, Equalized, No Extension.
  21. I suggested Vantage, but it fell on deaf ears.
  22. Chuck, I agree with you on point #1. I went and looked up the Metolius Rap Bolt hangers and saw a picture. They are like regular bolt hangers, except that the opening is rounded and polished so that it will not cut the rope.
  23. I am not certain which type of bolts these are then. I agree that one should always cut out old slings and take them with you.
  24. Alasdair, do as you like. Equalizing two bolts using webbing is safer than threading the rope through two cold shuts. If there are chains, no problem, use the chains. If you thread two bolts without chain and one fails, you have extension and the remaining bolt could fail from the shock load. Don't criticize people for doing what they regard as the safer alternative.
  25. It is certain, in any case, that ignorance, allied with power, is the most ferocious enemy justice can have. -James Baldwin (1924–1987)
