"and the Bush cabinet as war mongers willing to start a war to escape the negative publicity of the Enron scandal…" There may actually be something to that last part.

This Mose Allison song reminds me of cc.com: Sitting there yakkin' right in my face Coming on like you own the place If silence was golden You couldn't raise a dime Cause your mind is on vacation and your mouth is working overtime You're quoting figures, you're dropping names You're telling stories, you're playing games You always laugh when things ain't funny You try to sound like you don't need money If talk was criminal, you'd lead a life of crime Cause your mind is on vacation and your mouth is working overtime You know that life is short and talk is cheap Don't make promises that you can't keep If you don't like the song I'm singing, just grin and bear it All I can say is if the shoe fits wear it If you must keep talking please can you make it rhyme Cause your mind is on vacation and your mouth is working overtime Cause your mind is on vacation and your mouth is working overtime Cause your mind is on vacation and your mouth is working overtime

I am optimistic that medical technology will progress to the point where joint replacements will become a thing of the past. People will be able to grow new cartilege as good as that with which they were born.

You know I thought about putting it in spray, but decided against it. Who knows? Regarding the generation gap, we're about the same age, I think. I've never been into trying to fit in with the latest group think. Being intersted as I am in history and geography, mentally, I don't belong to a particular time or place. At times I think I was born twenty years too late.

Will, you don't have a clue where I am coming from. I never said I agreed with this person's point of view. I was just trying to state it, as best I could. The point is we hear all the regulars every day, but here is a voice we don't hear from. My goal was to stir the pot and in that I was successful. The thought I had this morning is that by posting on this board one develops a completely different perspective than if he just watches from outside. Some would like to think that such a person is "corrupted", but I'd rather submit they are "invested" in the game.

Be careful, you might hurt my feelings and make me cry. I might get all mad at you and send you mean nasty PM's and then get banned. BTW, type "...threadz/jchat.php"

NCM, you can do better than that, Mr Milqtoast. So you think my chat pal was dead on the mark?

I had an interesting chat with someone in the Chat is so Frikin Suck...Room. I will not say who this person was, but what they said. This person is a lurker who has not posted once. They said that all people who post regularly on cc.com are assholes. Eveyone is abusive and likes to be abused. We're "all mean". Now I've seen this person in chat before and they admitted to having joined about a year ago. I was trying to explain that not everyone is an asshole, but I wasn't getting through. I asked if they had ever been to Pub Club and the answer was no and they wouldn't want to meet any of you- in so many words-scum buckets, either. Now it sounds to me like this person is actually trying to get up the nerve to post for the first time. We are pretty easy on newbies, aren't we? Like you get ten or twenty free posts where you get treated with kid gloves. This person was interested in how people get "kicked out" (banned). They seemed to think it was a pretty arbitrary process. Is it? I said I thought those who got banned generally deserved it. We talked about climbing gyms. This person hates them. Hates chalk dust, hates rap. We have that in common. There are other things but I don't want to give away this person's gender. To make a long story short. Sometimes you can learn things and meet new people in the Chat is So Frikin Suck you are all so suck room.

Ah the nostalgia: Classic.

I think skiing is fun and all but I am rather afraid to get too involved in it with the attendant risk of destroying my joints. It doesn't seem worth it to risk a lifetime of climbing enjoyment to get a few cheap thrills.

Of course you were in diapers then. That's why it's hard to remember, right?

Tom's a really great guy. Humble and kind.

I met Disney artist, John Hench years ago at my folks house. He's still going strong at age 95. Story

I probably would have, along with many others. The amazing thing about Colin and Marko's achievement was getting to the summit despite horrible odds. Still, they were at least able to drive pretty close to their destination.

It's amusing to think that for some people's idea of heaven would be spending eternity shopping in a giant mall. That would be my version of hell. I'd rather take the fire and brimstone, thank you. The threat of an eternity in a mall is enough to make me mend my ways...

Alcohol will be your undoing.

Do you mean Michael Richards or the real Kramer?

Yeah, it was definitely sabotage. Either that, or dry rot.

My own opinion about why glucosamine works is that it stimulates the production of hyaluronic acid . HA is a high molecular weight polymer with viscoelastic properties that serves to lubricate joints. It also serves as a shock absorber. Picture a layer of HA solution sandwiched between the cartilege surfaces of your knee joint. When you land on your foot, large forces are transmitted through the bones in your leg. The HA layer is forced outward from the joint, tending to thin the layer. But because of its viscoelastic properties, it resists this flow and acts almost like a spring. When shear rate is very high it acts like a spring, but when shear is low it acts like a viscous fluid- a lubricant. So this HA layer is very important to your joints. To maintain it you should also maintain hydration levels. I've heard anecdotal reports that people who are dehydrated suffer more joint pain. This stands to reason since presumably, the HA layer would thin from lack of fluid. Here's another article I found interesting. I is sort of a combination clinical study report and review. http://www.drshankland.com/glucos.html

I rest my case.

E-Rock, are you on a crusade against the Evil One?

It seems like we have enough material to put a band together. What would this band be called, anyway? How about, "MisterE and the Snaffles"?

For those of you who dig the blues, reggae, zydeco, R&B and jazz, I just saw Taj Mahal at Jazz Alley this week. What an incredible entertainer an musician! The thing I like best about his music is how he transitions so smoothly from one style to the next and the level of mastery of each style. I had a great time. If you missed him this time, try to catch him next year at Thanksgiving time. Review in the The PI

People who express feelings of persecution will never get any sympathy on cc.com. Beck, better to suck it up and deal. As W.C. Fields once said, "There comes a time in a man's life when he must take the bull by the tail and face the situation."
