  1. Quoted for posterity and revenge. As there is a very small minority doing most of this kind of activity, stopping even a few can make a huge difference.

I say go for it. If she looks at your gray hair and spews in revulsion, then you'll know it was never mean to be.

  7. Looking at your pic Shapp reminds me of climbing with Dan Graff in the Wallowas. In spring or summer, unless there was inclement weather, after a climb on the hike out he'd always suggest we strip and dive into whatever pool was available in the creek we were hiking next too....I'd always look at that glacial water dubiously but probably stripped naked and jumped in at least 10 times anyway.... Penelope Here's Adams dog Penelope. He brought her along to Jimmies trying to coax the cougar that's stalked a few of us out of the woods. Since my knee is all shit right now, he let me dog sit and take pics while he and Kenny ran up Jimmies Favorite at Jimmies.
  8. Yes. Here ya go: I need a glass of wine, a book, a bath and a backrub...all at once. That's my thought(s). Out of here.

    KKKKK

Huh? Who keeps posting pics of you on Space Andrew? LOL!! Personally, I like to read TR, reading about climbs is the next best thing to doing them, and in fact, planning on doing a route, and learning the snow conditions from some other poor soul who got their car stuck in the snow is better than getting stuck yourself IMO. _________________________________________________________________- I didn't know this and appreciate the heads up on it. Should I stop posting my own TR's in spray then? Cause I like it that way.....but that's me and I'm strange. Glad you didn't ban the bone Porter, dude has a good heart, even if sometimes....sigh...... Warm regards to all

OMG?!! do I see a crack there? They bolted a crack? (see @ 5:27) OMG BONE! Kid is strong, sure has the route wired. Bone, that's probably a former military structure from WW1.
  12. OMG I saw this and thought of Adams dog! I'll look around for a pic of her.
  13. I don't feel like a sissy or a dork wearing a helmet, don't think I know others that do. But as long as we are going for 5 pages and already have teh fashionistas involved, shouldn't we include other headwear as well? Exhibit A) LOL! Exibit B) Ammon, Ivo and Potter topping out on the Reticent That Swedish bikini team you mention will walk right past these dudes. Exhibit c) These dudes finally gave up on the silly headbands and hats, seen here after the first one day ascent of the nose: Still embarrassed to wear a helmet at 60 years old?
  14. Thinking of some TR rock laps (no tools) tomorrow night after work at the butte @ 5:15pm. Anyone want to join in with Plaidman and I speak up. Probably nothing crazy, I'm just starting to come back from an injury and it still hurts, 10s or so.... Bryan... John..... other Dudes?
  15. I had once loaned Jim my Forrest hammer to go to Yosemite. It was returned @ 7 years later when he moved and found in in the bottom of one of his piles:-). It's the one 2nd from left. When I found and bought the one on the left, I re-loaned #2 back out to him on a semi-permanent basis is all. BTW, you might seriously consider getting on the list for the Joseph- Theron "open source" Deuse5 (A5) hammer which is coming out soon. Just drink less wine and you'll have all kinds of extra $. http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.html?topic_id=151177&tn=0&mr=0 http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.html?topic_id=853495&tn=0&mr=0 That's a great idea for recycling the wine box and getting the baby some intellectual activity...
  16. mmmmmm....yellow cake with chocolate frosting....Mmmmmmmmm
  17. ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!! Seriously, I'd be surprised if it was less than say...hmmm, 100%. Good point, but one which will most likely be lost on the "You're not safe if you don't wear a helmet crowd". Again, for the reading impaired, it's not about LOOKS at all. It's what is inside of your head that is important. I own 5 climbing helmets, I don't denigrate those who wear them or don't wear them, and try to not jump up and down starting threads telling people they MUST wear a helmet to be safe (or NOT wear a helmet). It isn't the helmet that counts, it's your friggan brain. Your brain may chose to wear one, or not, see the JHs examples above for instance, I've climbed with him and we both have worn helmets and done without as well ....not to say I haven't screwed up and should have had one on but didn't as well. It's your brain that chooses to go for it or not It's your brain that chooses to climb under anohter ...or not. So when I see this stupid threads that go something like this "Oh, dude was climbing under another party and got hit by a rock, but THANK THE GOOD LORD HE HAD HIS HELMET ON!!!!!!!!!because his helmet saved his life" threads...I always think, was dude climbing under them BECAUSE of the false sense of security a helmet brings? Would dude have simply gone to the next route and totally stayed out of the hospital had he NOT had a helmet on to start with. He would have looked up and perhaps thought, "I don't feel safe climbing under these folks without a helmet? " Get real dudes. It's what is inside that counts, whats inside and how you think is of significantly more importance than what is on top of your head. [/rant I'm done]

    New bathroom stoke

Wow, I just picked up and put in U's truck last night on the way to go do a few laps - a replacement for our Clawfoot tub. Old one was too big. I though from the title "New bathroom stoke" that this was going to be another Miss California thread too.
  19. http://www.oregonlive.com/news/index.ssf/2009/06/salem_police_seek_buttgrabbing.html They tell your story a bit differently, don't mention the Prius but they have your picture. Salem police seek butt-grabbing cyclist by Lynne Terry, The Oregonian Wednesday June 10, 2009, 10:08 AM A butt-grabbing bicyclist in Salem has police on the hunt -- and they want your help tracking him down. A statement from the Salem Police Department said the suspect, who was caught on a cell phone camera, grabbed two women and tried to grab a girl during a 15-minute spurt on Tuesday. The incidences took place between 12:45and 1:00 p.m., police said. In the first one, near the intersection of 17th Street SE and Mill Street, the man grabbed an adult female as he cycled by. The second incident, in the 600 block of 18th Street SE, came shortly afterwards. He tried but failed to grab a 9-year old girl and rode off. Then near the intersection of State Street and Hawthorne Avenue NE he grabbed an adult female in the buttocks as he rode by. The suspect is described as a male between 16 and his early 20s, with glasses and unshaven who was wearing a black baseball cap and black long sleeve shirt. He was riding a smaller bicycle and had a dark backpack with a silver stripe on it. Anybody with information about this case should call the Salem Police Department at 503-588-6123."
  20. Bet he does, which is why his muscles ripple and stuff..... Shaolung, probably the best thing you can do is find a regular workout partner to help motivate you. In the end - being a good father is more important than being a good climber though. Fitting in a workout that you enjoy is something you can look at and squeeze into your fatherhood schedule. Good luck.
  21. BTW, I've taken to marking my slings, like those on the cams, with my ODL number for later id if they get stolen. No pawn shop will take them, and thief's who are pros recognize that they will NOT be able to easily resell, AND they are traceable (jailable) and I like to think they are less likely to be stolen. Good luck dude!
  22. And you have very good reason to be. Each individual item in those two pictures brings back a flood of memories. Without question, that is just some of the gear stolen with my crag pack five years ago from Minnehaha: http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/331327/Searchpage/1/Main/22928/Words/stolen/Search/true/Re_My_crag_pack_stolen_from_Mi#Post331327 Bug, thank you very much. Not sure what course of action I can take, or should take, if any. Ditto - call the police non-emergency line!!! Immediately. It could very well be they have other stolen items, and if they bought it used, the police can verify or follow it to the pawn shop in Boise to see who brought it in. Wow! Ad says: Rock climbing cams and a few others - $200 (Shoreline) Reply to: sale-n6pqd-1213648852@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] Date: 2009-06-09, 2:50PM PDT I picked this rack up at a pawn shop in Boise last week thinking I would get back into climbing. But I probably wont. So now I've got to get rid of this stuff. It's all seen some pretty heavy use, but I don't know any specifics or what kind of falls have been taken on it. It's on you to inspect everything and know how to use it safely. I live at 14526 Interlake Ave N in Shoreline and I'll be around all night. Drop by if you like--first come first served. Ask for Jackson. Cash only. Oh, and this is a package deal--I won't split this up. * Location: Shoreline * it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests
  23. Ditto, awesome pictures in fact. Now about tossing bullets towards bears....one word for the graduate, if you feel the need for self defense as bears rarely bother anyone: Bearmace. Or just toss a rock, all but the most habituated bears will run like hell.
