Certainly lots of banks, JP Morgan-Chase for instance, would be looters. The bail out, wherein these large corp. financial companies get our money to use tax free, while tossing it around and getting interest for their shareholders off our our interest free $ qualifies them. Yes, dems can be looters, you can look at some of Baraks biggest contributors and if you follow up- you will see gov. money going their way. You money lets call it. Money we are borrowing at higher interest rates from China. This is getting transferred out of your pocket into theirs and we are falling behind and getting deeper in dept as it occurs. jb and I have some agreements here, but he pretty much is a one trick pony on this issue, blaming only the "fat cats". Business cycles have hit us before and we'll get through this one as well. But not quite yet, as we have more pain still I'm afraid. We've been wasting lots of money on wars, and now we need to raise jb's taxes to pay for them.

You must work for the gov't. Those folks think that there is an unlimited pool of money and all they have to do is say (to private sector folks) send it to us and we'll spend it for you. It's a recipe for disaster. We don't need the tax and spend dems any more than we need borrow and spend repub's running this country. I include Bush in the latter and exclude Clinton in the former. Like most rational people, I thought that the Bush tax cuts to the wealthy should have been rolled back 5 min after the election if not sooner, but you are mistaken if you think that we can simply tax our way out of this - either for California or the country. More importantly, as Greece is learning, we also need to cut costs, and that means reduced government.

Those guys were so damn good!

Genius! Anyone who has read the last 200 jb posts that start with "you are a regressive corporate shill...." isn't going to understand it though. Brilliant.

The History of Memorial Day "Three years after the Civil War ended, on May 5, 1868, the head of an organization of Union veterans — the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) — established Decoration Day as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers. Maj. Gen. John A. Logan declared that Decoration Day should be observed on May 30. It is believed that date was chosen because flowers would be in bloom all over the country. The first large observance was held that year at Arlington National Cemetery, across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. The ceremonies centered around the mourning-draped veranda of the Arlington mansion, once the home of Gen. Robert E. Lee. Various Washington officials, including Gen. and Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant, presided over the ceremonies. After speeches, children from the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Orphan Home and members of the GAR made their way through the cemetery, strewing flowers on both Union and Confederate graves, reciting prayers and singing hymns."

Uli Says: ".....If I would not know what he has already climbed in his life, I would think he is a normal, motivated climber. Alex is 24 years old and has climbed the most wildest things. I left Bern on Monday morning, May 17, 2010 at 5.30. It was a long journey to San Francisco, where I arrived late in the eveing of the same day. Tuesday, May 18, we spent doing the last preparations. After we left to the Valley. I felt like being on the way nonstop for two days. And there I met Alex full of beans. Tomorrow, Wednesday we will climb the Nose on El Cap. Most climbers need three days to climb this route. We want to be back in the valley in the evening. Wednesday morning, May 19, 2010: Alex and I are at the entry. We just met each other and today we climb together for the fist time in our lives. Between us 30 meters of rope and some intermediate belays. Slowly I start to forget my jetlag and enjoy the golden granit. After the Sickel Ledge we pass a second rope team. Kindly they let us pass. We climb together and quickly we gain height. Doit Tower: we are on the way since one hour. We make a first stop to eat and drink something. It is like a solo: you never have to stop. Just climb, step by step. Now the route is more technical and we need some rope tricks to overwhelm the Kingswing. Short afterwards we find ourselves underneath the famours Great Roof. Again we have to pass rope teams. Fortunately that Alex is so famous in the States. Immediately they let us go by....."

Sarah Para Bellum says: "bicycling reduces our dependence on foreign oil and liberates our country economically so bring it bitch". So if you are pro-car and anti-bike, you suh, are Anti-American. That's right, Anti-American and a hater who wishes to destroy our fine way of life.
