This makes me think about the numbers of young Germans who died on the Eigerwand, all because Hitler threw out the challenge for a German to be the first. Sometimes the goal of besting past achievements in-and-of-itself just doesn't make sense.

Duh Ursa, what do ya think a laptop is for?

DFA, you sound like Reinhold Messner last night on some show I watched. "People follow me (Peter Habeler)...and then they shit on me!!"

This is no lie: I have a nephew who now has some brains (as he is abt 24), but 10 years ago, I'm driving him with other family members to a wedding, and he's sitting in silence w/ the headphones on in the back. The perfect picture of a 14-year-old who wants to zone the rest of us out... when all of a sudden I hear a scream of "JUMP JUMP" from the backseat and almost wreck the car...

I think that's my nephew in the ballcap

That is NOT Dr. Flash Amazing. THIS is the real Dr. Flash Amazing:

Thanks guys. (except you, lummox...you big...lummox) I think it's probably time to see somebody. This very specific point of pain seems to be right on top of the shoulder joint itself or maybe slightly in front of the top. Interesting comment on hand numbness. I sometimes have finger numbness (both hands) after sleeping.

Owww. I backed off weight training for about 45 days, and gradually resumed it during past 3-4 weeks. But I'm right back to having some specific tendon(?) pain at the top of my left shoulder bones. I never did the dumbells per Courtenay (guess that makes me the dumbell), and the only press I have done is military, because for some reason it hurts less than chest press. I guess I should seek the advice of a sports-med Dr. At any rate, the pain level is only a 3-4 out of 10, and I can continue to work out w/o problem. Probably shouldn't, but hate to stop!

Bet that baby shook when the top came down!

Cheap MRI or any other suggestion?

TG, Are you sure that you don't have any health ins cov'g that helps with this cost? If you find that you do NOT have a herniated disc or other specific injury, then I recommend a book called Back Sense that I believe came out of Harvard Med School staff about 2 years ago. Back pain is often a complicated subject. I have lived with off-and-on lower back pain for 20 years. My bro the MD put me on to this book awhile back. Stretches, massage, the right training...it's all good. -
DFA is really a card-carrying conservative who listens to country and loves to climb in Alaska. He and I spent a fine afternoon recently, shooting skeet and drinking Budweiser. Forget anything you ever imagined about the 'real' DFA.

Sphincter boy---you about 12 years old? You are so damn juvenile that I just want to avoid your posts entirely. Grow up.

A couple of years ago there was a great email making the rounds that listed names for a dozen or so types of poo. I remember that the worst one was the crap that you take that is so sticky and greasy that, after using a roll or so of paper, you wind up having to take a shower afterward to get clean.

Being born in 1960 has always made the math easy on remembering my age.

I guarantee that another enviro-zealot could audit either of you two and your lifestyles, and be just as outraged by his findings as you are with the way others live.

Jackass the movie was just a little too over the top for me. There's just too much gay-looking stuff they do. Chicks won't even get within a mile of those doods, it appears.

My point is that many of the 'environmentalists' are frustrated people who want to tell others what they can't do with their own property.

pt And the world is one big park/museum, right j_b? What about if I own, say, 10,000 ac of tree farm in Tennessee? Gee, can I go off-road there, or do ya think that's a bad thing too?
