fine, you can have it. biggest prick wins.

yeah, well. until you start supporting successfully what you say .... it's just an opinion. and anyone who has read your posts, knows exactly what it is worth.
-
don't you guys like this: sphinx turning up his nose at something on the basis that it is not funny
-
i smell a little hypocrisy .... either you are rejecting all political cartoons (in which case you pass up on a tradition that is many century old), or you discount as being boring and childish only those that don't reflect your point of view. i suspect i could waste my time trying to find some of your cheering on of stuff that i find in bad taste, but it is not necessary, the users of this board know you from your many posts. for what it's worth i find fiore's stuff right on the mark, and very funny to boot.

willow spring is, but i think calico basin may be right at the eastern boundary. both places are very accessible. the bouldering at willow springs in on the loop near the parking lot. there is great info on calico basin here: http://www.drtopo.com/nevada/redrocksbouldering.pdf
-
in case you are without a partner at red rocks, there is good bouldering at calico basin and willow springs.

except that the facts presented by fiore are actually facts, which cannot be said for sphinx's drivel.

anyone with half a brain knows there is no liberal bias in the media. where was the liberal slant with respect to the iraq war? wmd's? lies? imbedded reporters? etc ... always ten steps back from where the general public was. where is the liberal bias w.r.t global warming and kyoto? and on, and on .... as mentioned in the piece linked to by matt, people think there is a liberal bias in the media because the media told them there was one.

the main reason to climb at erie is the good weather. it is often the only dry crag in western washington.
-
something obscure like the nw arete on shuksan (mid-5th & 45deg ice), with a carry over. great views, good climb, nobody there. go down fisher's chimney, plant a bike at the trailhead to get back to the car.

sounds like a good trip. how's bill doing these days? -
i am not much slower in boots. you ought to practice more. that's the point of wearing them often. when i *need* to wear them, then i am ready. if i need rock shoes i bring them, if i don't then i don't bring them (just imagine that). before you twist my meaning again, i did not say that i would not bring rock shoes for an alpine rock climb where boots are not needed. it just depends on the approach, the difficulty of the climb and the type of climbing, etc .. as for the definition of moderate. i don't consider a spring/summer 5.9 climb with snow pitches in between as anything more than moderate. now if you want to call it something else, suit yourself.
-
yes, of course, we can always look forward to a few seasoned insults from our friend fence-sitter. next time, he just may try to discuss what he disagrees with.
-
why? you don't think that's do-able? 2nd pitch would be easy. i am not so sure about the 1st, though. anyway, that was not my point. i did not say that all .9 were doable in boots. i keep the boots on for as long as i can, and leave the rock shoes behind at the first opportunity when the combination of appraoch/climbing footwear dictates so.
-
so what would you do on a mixed climb with moderate rock climbing (say up to .9)? constantly change footwear? not very efficient. for what it's worth i took both classes a long time ago. it was a good experience, even though there were some people with whom i did not get along. taking the classes left me with the best set of skills for the money i spent, as well as a large number of potential partners. i had to unlearn a few things and expand my knowledge in some areas but i would not do anything differently if i started today. i'd say attention to details and a concern for safety are 2 things that i learned with the mounties that have molded my practice of climbing.

i actually agree but ... anyhoo some good news: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1962053

i am not refusing to answer your question. but first, i want to clear up this thing of me insulting you because it seems you are attempting to obfuscate the discussion. in webster main entry: indignity 1 a : an act that offends against a person's dignity or self-respect : INSULT b : humiliating treatment can you elaborate on how what i said offended your self-respect or how it was a humiliating treatment?
-
in Webster Main entry: insult transitive senses : to treat with insolence, indignity, or contempt either you are being ridiculous or you can explain specifically how you were treated with insolence, indignity or contempt. are you going to challenge me to a duel now?
-
good illustration of "strong on insults, but weak on argument"
-
you are playing semantics games PP, and you sphinx you are pretty good at insulting people but way short on supporting your arguments.

funny how all the rumors can be traced back to republicans and their media (notably the weekly standard, the mouthpiece of neocons)
