yep, the only senator that opposed the patriot act. A true progressive and civil liberty hero. It stands to reason that those that spend their time spewing about 'liberty' would rejoice at his loss.
-
so, refusing to attack a country for its resources, not enabling torture, the patriot act, rendition, budget busting and unnecessary tax breaks for the wealthy, etc is a matter of purity versus practicality? Do you even stop to ponder what you are saying?

Not only that is certainly not true but Bush didn't have a catastrophic recession to deal with. I should say a recession of this magnitude because the nasty dotcom bubble burst occurred when he took over.

wear that stupid proud fairweather! It takes a special fool to not see that class warfare has been going on for a long time and that according to Warren Buffet the wealthy are winning it, thanks in part to tools like Fairweather.

let's hope the state supreme court will rule it unconstitutional.

Pure truth. Like Carter and Clinton before Obama: campaign to the left, govern on the right.

You might be right. I've heard that progressives that secretly hate America and yearn to bring her down crossed over in large numbers to vote Republican. You know, to send the country down the crapper even faster. I don't know if you're joking but voter turnout was a little higher than 2006, which means participation was in the low 40%, ergo the GOP dead-enders voted for the GOP (while they pretended to be tea-baggers), while youth and minorities mostly stayed home (apart from hispanics to punk Angle the racist). No large cross-over, just the usual "it appears that my vote doesn't matter?"

Interesting comments from Kim, Clemente and Moore about what it all means and independent parties in 2012, the discussion starts at 5:30: link here

so you must be biking because I doubt public transit is worth diddly in your neck of the woods, which likely leaves plenty of options for granny when she goes shopping (we wouldn't want her to blame others for global warming, you know )
-
wut? Progressives are certainly justified in blaming corporocrats and their toadies for the lack of action to mitigate global warming.

Well, many people attacking other people rather than their ideas is not specific to this thread. In fact, it's all what some people do here. Rather than lumping everyone in the same category perhaps mattp could have made a political argument?

Same people whose Georgia Pacific enjoys taxpayer funded Forest Service roads to log on public land. Come on welfare queens get back to work and don't forget to pay up your FS user fees!

what about our favorite Libertarians billionaires who spend obscene quantity of dough to catapult their "get big government off our back" propaganda while they use eminent domain to preempt 1300 landowners to lay a pipeline: "MinnCan is a $300 million dollar, 300-mile long trek through Minnesota from Clearbrook to Rosemount. For the first 100 miles, it matches an existing pipeline. In the last 200 miles, it runs through virgin countryside, completely ignoring an existing route and instead traversing 183 streams and rivers, 14 watersheds, and preempting the property of 1,300 landowners in 14 counties under eminent domain – 23 of them organic farmers. MPL and Koch call this their "Greenfield" route." Enbridge, Koch, and Tar Sands Recovery

There are many reports of heavy turnouts for a mid-term election in urban areas. This could get interesting. I wonder if corporate propaganda about a GOP landslide will somewhat backfire and scare liberals into voting. Remember <27% of the potential vote for Reagan was a Republican tsunami according to the media.

Ok, I am glad to read I misinterpreted what you meant. Sorry about that.

quit smoking the rug. it's bad for your lungs.

the right wing morons are trolling now.

He is clearly more intelligent than you, although it's not a very nice thing to say about him because it is obviously no great feat. I thought I would momentarily adopt your gratuitous attack style. How does it feel jackass?

and most of those that don't have cars probably don't vote.
-
they don't need a car to vote in Washington.

People like you should have to explain how you could be advocate for the people yet be so full of misplaced disdain for common folks.

I guess it means that Piss Pot ran out of argument. That didn't take very long.

I did quote you exactly in my first answer to your post, then when YOU answered, you got rid of all quotes. Don't pretend I did what YOU did.

~25% of the voting age population is "over half the country"? your arithmetic aint 2 gud.

i doubt it - the nature of any large public is that of a dumb beast - no speech or policy will mollify it - the dems coulda kicked the bankers square in the nuts repeatedly for the past 2 years, and if unemployment was still at 10%, it would only have been used by the opposition to justify their ouster people need jobs - all the other shit is window-dressing to them, and understandbly so I believe that creating more jobs would have helped, which is the reason I pointed out that a bigger more relevant stimulus was needed. Yet, I don't believe that people are voting for the GOP as much as people aren't turning out because they don't believe their vote matters. They voted for change and nothing happened, there is no more important lesson from the past 2 years.
