  1. Trask (like me) needs to get a life. But thanks. That was way cool! Dennis
  2. Richard (Dick)...Were you one of them boys up the Ice Cycle yesterday? If that was you, I just wanted to compliment ya. You was good, damned good, and after a time you seemed to enjoy it. Dennis
  3. The removal of inappropriately placed bolts is a lot of hard work...but is kind of fun too. It's like climbing, only different. Be forewarned, people, that if you choose to indiscriminately bolt on my side of the state they will be removed forthwith...and only the rock will suffer. Dennis has spoken
  4. Vantage is a nice gym...but beware of all the rattlesnakes. And free! Dennis
  5. That's a picture of a beaver...ya big idiot!
  6. Good to know that you're still alive and that the snafflehounds aren't chewing off your face. Dennis
  7. Anyone out there know Trask? I'm kinda getting worried. Please look and PM. Dennis
  8. Need I reply? Mr. Trask edited his last post on this thread, presumably because he felt that he was wrong. I don't know. He seems to be an entertaining guy, but can't seem to write one cohesive sentence. DON'T POUT TRASK!!! We all still love you. Dennis
  9. jkrueger, Your figure of 23,100 climbers in the state of Washington sounds reasonable to me. My question to you is...How many of those climbers are shitting in zip-lock bags and carrying out their waste? Kind of makes you want to buy a water filter, doesn't it? Maybe we could all deposit our wastes in plastic bags and present them to the local USFS headquarters. If a ranger isn't present, let's just leave the bags on their door-steps for appropriate disposal. Just an idea. Dennis
  10. Well, me and another good old boy were ripping out them there bolts up that there Ice-Sickle canyon yesterday. Afterwards, we saw a couple of them there 'west-siders,' and drug em down by the river and made em squeal like pigs. Damn! Them there Seattle boys is good! What was your question agin? 11. Okay Trask...I give up. What in the heck does "necro-scrogging" mean? Getting a back rub from a dead person? Dennis
  12. Trask = anus...I spit on you. You're probably not even a climber, and less a good clown. However, there does exist a sub-human breed of "cyberheads" out there and you're probably one of them. Dennis Harmon ---------------------------- "avatar for Dennis Harmon"
  13. Wow! Sweet granite in Renton, eh? That might have to be my next vacation destination. This climbing around Leavenworth sucks! I thought I'd go to Colorado, but Renton sounds sweet...and much, much closer. Are there any bolted routes there? Dennis
  14. Damn, Vegetablebelay! That was funny stuff, and thanks for sharing. I was once on "patrol" in my ambulance in downtown Portland and watched a women parker open her car door right in time for another women cyclist to slam into it. That wasn't funny stuff. Wear your helmets...and assume that they're all out to kill you. Dennis
  15. Keith Schultz, The Ross ice shelf anomaly as well as the variation in ancient verses 'recent' ice surveys should come as no surprise to anyone...unless, of course, they've been living in a cave. I guess my stance is that not every thing in nature need be described and quantified and verified by science (as it exists at this time) before vital changes in our behaviors need to occur. Just like emergency room physicians practice,...every diagnosis does not need be definitively verified in order to act to save lives. AlpineK, As a child I rode my bicycle in the wake of fog of the DDT trucks because it was fun. Maybe that's why I am the way I am today. Dennis
  16. I climb because I'm too poor to go golfing at the country club. Besides,...those people really don't like me anymore. Dennis
  17. erik, "...think to your self about how you can be a better rider or driver. Because you will not change anyone." Well said, lad. I'm 44 years old and haven't changed anyone else in my whole friggin life. Wisdom counts. Dennis
  18. CraigA, As I recall there's an active volcano on the island of O'ahu called Alowa Wana Kuleua. A couple Russian scientists a few years ago rode a solidified chunk of magma down a lava stream course there so they could get accurate temperature measurements. I wouldn't suggest you do anything like that, but being an amateur volcanologist, of sorts, I would appreciate it if you would venture out on to the newly formed crust and return to me a fresh sample of molten magma. I only need a cup. Thanks. Dennis
  19. Sure Captn, I'll do it with you. When? ----------------------------------- I actually know Dennis Harmon
  20. Winter, I LIKE IT! And thanks to all of you for the intelligent discourse on this vitally important issue. I've learned a lot and thanks. Wish the Feds with the power to influence some things would read this thread...where's the CIA when you need them? Dennis [ 07-16-2002, 09:40 PM: Message edited by: Dennis Harmon ]
  21. MtnGoat, I have to agree with you concerning the nature of the scientific method, and looking back on a post I made (that you quoted) I noticed that I made a typo and meant to write that the best educated minds in the science of climatology can (NOT) conclude that global warming is anthropogenically produced. Still, I have to instinctively believe (which, as you know, doesn't mean squat in science) that we're contributing to the problem. I appreciate the intelligent discussion. 22. MtnGoat, I am not an educated climatologist, but even the most well educated in the science (and the UW has probably the best program with super-global climate modeling computers) can definitly conclude that global-warming is anthropogenically produced. It is cyclical...but are we exacerbating it? My guess is that we are. Imagine the millions of idling cars cued up in the morning and afternoon commutes world-wide and the amount of collective emmisions they are producing. Now imagine how small the atmosphere surrounding this planet really is. By the way, I believe that your own federal government has finally acknowledged that we are largely responsible. Dennis
  23. mr.radon, I have an isulin dependant 8 year-old son named 'Tucker' who was diagnosed with diabetes when only 2.5 years-old. PM me and I will give you my number and we'll talk. (Anyone jokes about this topic...I will hunt you down and kill you dead.) Dennis [ 07-16-2002, 03:44 PM: Message edited by: Dennis Harmon ]
  24. Dru, I seem to have misplaced my Latin dictionary...does "coprophage" mean: eater of shit? Probably does, and thanks for sharing. Trask, "Shit in crevass. Problem solved." Unless, of course, fall in same crevass. Problem exacerbated. Dennis
  25. Chuck, Rent the friggin movie, stupid! Dennis
