    IS it Monday?

it's pure torture is what it is. very interesting view into how things work, but purt torture nonetheless. cool trippy effects looking at mineral grains under crossed polars though. I remember my practical final in that course. I had two big drawers of minerals set in front of me, and the professor was free to ask me anything and everything about them for as long as he liked. ugh
  11. same as everyone, the PCT access on hwy 20. good jog up the trail there. can come in from jack lake, but even farther away. try the mt wash n. ridge tfj s. ridge day link-up for some good exercise

  14. 3FJay is a classic for september. great fitness run when nothing else is planned, nice long jog and then some fun scrambling. luckily smoot writes it off as a total chosspile (partly true).
  15. just stupid. 16 year old brain in 26 year old body
  16. Some view a pavement project on a gravel access road as an improvement and use it as an example of fee-money put to good use (if they can prove that fee-money was even used locally in the first place). However, I think I can safely say many people prefer the primitive access road and don't want the "upgrade"! Yes, I complain about the condition of the road up to Cloud Cap on Mt. Hood, but I would be furious if they paved it (though it does cost money to grade and maintain it even in its current condition). Many of us just want a gravel turnoff to remain just that, and keep the interpretive displays, steps, etc. away. There are plenty of other users who might want these things, but there is a very large amount who do not. We should not pay to walk on forest land. Keep the fees to the developed campgrounds and designated "improved" areas.
  17. fair enough. he seemed fairly reasonable when interviewed w/ oregon field guide recently. I am not aware of his dealings w/ the AAC et al.
