    etiquette question

The tarp folk can often be seen loading up the gear in a metolius big wall bag. Yet mysteriously, the aid lines at smith remain empty for the day. I hope these multi-pitch linkups out of the dihedrals make it into the new smith guide, as I have yet to locate them. Once my friend and I saw tarp folk pause during the gear sorting ritual to set up a tripod and spotting scope to investigate the marsupials, shouting loudly at times. My friend and I looked for the obligatory SAR/EMT/FR patches on shoulders, packs, etc. but surprisingly, none were found.

I have seen duct tape on some down jackets there. However, when peeled back, no cut in material is revealed. Is this a secret code?

my friend has a yellow lab. I'll have to inform him he is out of spec. maybe if he smears some nutella on the beast or something he could show his face there again.

my question after a weekend at smith: are you allowed to give beta in the dihedrals area if you are not wearing a north face down product?
  10. it's solidified rocket fuel. keep back. It is very crumbly and greasy. extremely rich.
  11. I provide a comprehensive health care package to my injured employees, as you can well see by the above photo. Novacane-laced friskies are just off screen

  14. I like google news for a web source. You can get the local angle on stories, and it actually IS "fair and balanced". The BBC is also very good for a news source that actually cares about the rest of the world. I'm also a fan of NPR, though they need to counterbalance Daniel Shore's tirades about this and that. I also like to try to mess with cnn.com's polls. The Christian Science Monitor is another excellent source.

    For Doctorb

It's wilder than a friday night scrabble game in spray. The weak need not apply.
  16. I have a brand-new (still in packaging) Hi-Lift jack for sale. It is the all cast model (stronger) in the 60" length. Note: you need accessible jack points on your bumper, or have rock sliders installed on your truck to jack on the side. Hi-Lift sells an attachment for curved bumpers, but your bumper must be able to support a portion of your vehicle weight. The Hi-Lift jack can be used in winching applications with recovery straps, or as a clamp. It is also used as a spreader for emergency work. $60. I would prefer someone local as I don't want to ship this thing. More info at http://www.hi-lift.com/

  19. Is there some embargo on distribution in Washington? I've had my copy for several months now.
  20. I really like Marmot down bags if you were looking for a specific brand. I think bags are by far their best product and they are often on sale.

    REI Sucks

holy toledo I would not let rei touch my stix. Mtn shop in PDX has never done me wrong.
  22. hah I want to see friday forecast before I go up there again. January "squalls" up there are brutal and merciless, and they don't "show up on the radar" in the weather forecast as far as I can tell.
  23. I don't think avy stuff is an issue, it is so easy to get by there out of harm's way. However, the exit gully to the hourglass will be pretty frightful in higher avalanche conds, and that's pretty much the escape off the south side of the ridge. Two folks were nailed by avalanche there in January last year. I don't think I'd want to be stuck on the ridge if shit hits the fan since it is hard to get off quickly, and the forecast is not exactly clean. Anyway, you'll know you're alive I guess. Please do not employ seige tactics on the ridge. The cc.com "flavor of the month" crap needs to stop.
