    Hypocrisy

I'd rather live in a society where the known perpetrator is executed than allowed to have children, or to abort them if they are conceived. that is an ill concieved sentence do you mean you would rather live where a perp is killed rather than allowed to breed? becuase that is ofcourse the best possablity. however child melestation does not in most states carry a death penelty scentence.

    Hypocrisy

It's perfectly consistent to oppose the intentional murder of an innocent life, and simultaneous condone the taking of a life of an evil-doer. yet what kind of life are you willing to damn that unwanted child to? me personaly... I would rather die quick and painless than live a tourmented life of an unloved unwanted ill kept child. having heard thos words out of my fathers mouth "I never wanted children any way" i can assure you that contibuted heavily to my drug addiction and anti social behavior as a child and a teen. I was lucky enough to grow up and get away. my dad was mean but he wasn't as awful as he could have been so i was able to move past it. for those born into evil, there is no way out. not only do i think abortion should be legal, i think it should be manditory for some. Muffy, I believe the opinion you've expressed here to lack your full consideration. i am pretty sure i meant what i said. did i stutter? perhaps it is not populare to believe that a child would rather be dead than systamaticly abused and molested by it's parent who is a known purpitrator...

wow. maybe those crazy born-agains are right after all about the "end-times". it has been end times since the begining. just like you are dying from the moment you are born.

I don't think so... too many "pro-lifers" also support the death penalty. that was the only bit of logic i had atributed to them. i guess they have none.

Or better yet…..pro lifers who also believe in the death penalty. That does not make sense. 'pro-life' is a euphemism designed to make the position more desirable and clearly "right". Ditto for "pro-choice", whose proponents at one point actually called the position "pro-abortion". the true terms probably should be a neutral (sans connotatioins) version of "pro-abortion" and "anti-abortion". I thought the reasoning behind the pro lifers going to the term pro life was to indicate that they were not only anti abortion but anti euthanasia and anti death penalty.

    Are You Drugged?

Nope, not cancer - more of the unnecessary "I think I'm not feeling well , so I'll get my doctor to prescribe me this medicine." Not that this is a medicine, but Olestra comes to mind where the side effects are worse than the benefit, IMHO. I am not sure olestra qualifies as "Medicine" and i think i agree with you.

    Are You Drugged?

are you talking about radiation therapy or something else? the treatment for cancer is as nasty as the disease.... but most medication if given to someone with a disease actually help. the trouble is when medication is given to someone who doesn't have the disease. or any disease... i find that we are an over medicated society. people want a pill to resolve everything. most things need time and healthy habits. IMHO

    Are You Drugged?

Unbelievable. Hey wait a minute here... Do we really want the government in our lives this way? Now they are the nanny who has to tell us over and over again that we need to eat right and move around? I don't think that is their responsibility, is it? I want my health plan to cover my docs and my meds. I'd like it if it (or my company) would help with my gym membership--or at least let me use my FSA/HSA to pay for it. But I don't need them telling me that I shouldn't get fat--especially after they deduct part of my pay check. Given that the "we bear the costs of your behavior, so we have the right to regulate it" argument has brought us compulsory seat-belt and helmet laws, it's not a stretch to imagine that there are those who would seek to use the same argument to grant the government the right to do the very things that you mention. Whether the government would actually do so is an open question, and it would be interesting to learn more about how other countries have managed to reconcile the imperative to cut costs with the necessity of maintaining personal freedoms that might be curtailed or regulated by the state - from what you eat to what you weigh. I'd have no problem with a private company rewarding healthy behaviors with lower premiums, and punishing unhealthy ones with higher rates, but placing a coercive power of this magnitude in the hands of the state seems fraught with quite a few more risks. The one thing I'd like to see included in health care coverage is the LAP band (I may be writing this wrong) thingy. It's easy and it helps people. But endlessly covering all the meds req'd to keep a fat person alive (certain diabetes, blood pressure meds, etc etc) is unfair to the system. As you know, some other countries manage their costs by not just giving everybody every procedure and med they ask for. Rationing healthcare is reasonable. And I agree 100% with your second paragraph. Smokers had to pay more. Fatties should have to pay more. Oh, and tax the shit out of unhealthy, worthless junkfood just like they tax cigs. I couldn't agree more.

  19. You too? It's hard to find aficionados of those long attention span board games in the modern age. Yeah they must be too busy putting in 6 hours a night playing World of Warcraft to sit down and play a three hour game on Monopoly. yeah, but it actually TOOK 3 hrs to set up the axis n' allies game (was TOTALLY worth it though!) - boardgames:computer games - alpineclimbing:cragging it's true. fortunately my Things like both. they like to play WOW and they like to play Risk. they are way better at all games than i am. Thing 2 is a damn fine poker player as well. it's a good thing we bet M&M's instead of money.
  20. You too? It's hard to find aficionados of those long attention span board games in the modern age. monopoly sucks... once the scales begin to tip in one direction, it's a slow painful death for the person with an inferior set of properties. thats why you have to go in with a strategy. i don't usly win, but i don't usually go broke first either
  21. well said. i believe it was William Shakespeare who said "Nothing is so right or wrong as thinking makes it so." as far as war, i heard a comedian say that a war would be better fought if world leaders got mad and punched each other in the nose rather than sending our young men to war. i am in no way a total pacifist. i believe there is indeed a time for violence. and i am glad there are men an women who are trained and prepared to deal with the protection of our country...should we ever need it. until then, i think we should bring our troops home and work on being a very self sufficient nation. we can be really good world citizens by helping some and giving some and not in-debting ourselves financially or getting involved in wars that can not be won or are none of our business.
