Aaahh yes! the tee-shirt wearing, teeth chattering fellow, who was quite obviously trying to think of a happy place that was warm and sunny, while waiting for the ever growing crowd to disperse, so you could get the hell out of there.
-
Iain, I'm guessing you were one of the 8 or so that was waiting to rap from snaggy ledge, but I don't think we were introduced, which one were you? Fun Guy and I climbed a sweet route over on the East face..."Young warriors" or something like that. 2 pitch, first was like .6 or .7 and the 2nd was nice .10a, very friable until you enter the hand/finger crack, finishing at the belay ledge on the 2nd pitch of SE corner.

The Acrop also has a pretty damned good steak and salad deal
-
Aaahhh beer and the naked women who serve it. If you are looking for a little after hours entertainment there are more than a few in PDX. I like the Acropolis and of course there's always Stars Cabaret. Stars has got to be the cleanest establishment I have ever been in.

hhhmmmmm! veeery interesting!

B-rock, you're right, most companies tend to go with the easy (less expensive) test. However, two of the larger general contractors in Portland have figured out that they can reduce their insurance rates by going with a higher quality of test, they are also smart enough to know that people are still gonna smoke, etc. but they let you know exactly how much of a certain substance they are looking for. Everything in moderation I guess.

It's a very touchy subject. I believe that what a person does on their own time is their business, it really only affects me when they bring it to work the next day. My employees work with heavy materials and glass along with high powered cutting tools and machinary(sp?) the last thing I want to see is one of them loose a limb or severely injure themselves because they drank a 1/5 last night or polished off a lid while watching the world series. On the other hand, if they want to go on a binge friday at 3:30PM until sunday afternoon, that's their business/life, as long as they aren't out driving around and endangering the lives of others, I really don't care.

I've driven from PDX to Paradise in about 3.5, don't know abut Mowich

Random testing is pretty common in commercial construction. As a subcontractor we are dictated by the general when and where to piss. If we don't comply, our guy's dont work on the job. If they piss and fail they get one more chance, if they fail that test, most GC's ban them from ALL of their projects for life.

Sorry, I should rephrase, I should have said, "I can't climb hard all day"
-
I don't need to climb hard all day. I would like to do 1-2 .10's then, I'm way into easy, maybe B-rock can come out to play as well. It would be kewl to have a couple ropes up.
-
Yo Shred, who do you think you're fooling. I would have to say that by your last comment, that quite possibly makes you the biggest sandbagger I know. Maybe you forgot, but I've climbed with you a few times. The first time was right after you told me that you hadn't climbed much this year then turned around and waltzed up a .10A. But don't worry, I wont tell anybody.
-
Council Crest, I could drop down the hill into NW. Shred's playing beat the clock at work, but it sounds like he might be more able to go early rather than later in the day.

Rogue brewery had a little brew house in Ashland, they sold what they made so flavors were very nice. The oatmeal stout was awesome, they also made a salsa brew that was exceptionaly yummy. My god, it's 9:15AM and I'm wondering what brew would go good with my bagel and cream cheese.

Fun guy, I sent an email to shred about climbing Beacon on Sat. supposed to be the nicest weather day. I was thinking of heading out mid-morning. Maybe we could all car-pool? On another topic....Yes, I do believe that the Portland Pub Club should extend throughout the entire winter Cause baby PC

The last time I was out there, that cam was totally hammered. The wires are all busted and it pretty much looks welded in place. I don't think you could call that thing "booty" the only benefit of taking the time to remove that thing would be purely aesthetics.
-
Na! can't make My busted up little brother is coming over tonight. His pro motocross career is probably over and he needs help planning his new future. Burger King is hiring aren't they? I'm still holding out hope that my original plan will stay together. I'm waiting to hear from John if he can still go (he's working on a staph(sp)infection) Anyhow, if John can't make Smith, I'm gonna stay local.
-
I'm still trying to get my plans figured out. I was hoping to do a Smith/Washington trip this weekend, but that may be falling through, in which case local (Beacon) might be the best bet for Sat. I'd like to hit another .10a or two, just to prove to myself that the first one wasn't a fluke. Whachya got in mind?
-
Shred, give a clue as to where this booty may be found. I'd hate to have to "sketch" all over that rock just to find this hidden treasure. Wish I could make tonights but I must be a good boy and fulfill my family obligations.

A problem/side effect of coffee is that it is a diaretic, yeah it sure helps get things moving in the a.m. but it also inhibits the absobtion of minerals and other nutrients. I think for short trips into the mountains it's no big deal, but on a longer trip, say a month or longer it might pose some problems when fresh foods are scarce. just my .02

Reality TV? Now this is a GREAT spray topic.
sketchfest replied to Rodchester's topic in Climber's Board
So your saying that I didn't get a call because of my: a)ugly mug, b)fat gut, c)crooked smile, d) little to no climbing ability. Who's "reality" is that? -

What??? the 50 have already been chosen...what's the deal with that? I never received my auto e-mail notification about entering. I guess they had to do something to bring ratings back, considering all they ever show anymore are programs about fishing, sailing and the occasional 1/2 hour of bike coverage. Even though the show was poorly hosted, "High country climber" was easier to watch than joe-bob's fishin adventures. -
On my flight home from Denver on Monday, we flew around the East side of the mountain and a look back at the North, with great views of the upper slopes. We were probably about 3-4,000' above the mountain (it felt unusually close for a commercial flight) Shred's photo is sweet, but what it doesn't show is the total and udder lack of snow on the upper mountain. The slopes above Cooper spur have no snow at all with the exception of small patches off to the side of the climbing route. Routes like the Sandy are all but melted out except for a thin line directly up the middle of the face. The queens chair is also extremely bare. Without snow and ice, Hood is like a pile damp cat litter, it gives the word choss a whole new meaning.

Aaawww b-rock, you don't know how bad I want to go. I just got back from the mile high city and did nothing but sweet lines and great climbs. Unfortunately, I have a charity fundraiser on Saturday that I can not get out of..believe me, I've been trying for the last 2 weeks. I gotta stay local this weekend, I think John, my son and I are gonna head up to french's mellon sometime on Sunday.
