  2. quote: Originally posted by Dr Flash Amazing: Greg, you don't head to the crags in that plush 6-cyl. LL Beans Outback? That thing would be top choice for this Doctor. Of course, DFA's climbing adventures rarely leave the highway, so clearance is not an issue. Not yet; the Outback is the wife/child mobile. Plus, the Chevy is every bit as plush minus the heated seats and dual sunroofs!
  3. No, it is not noteworthy, DFA. Don't bring your work onto the .com.

    Hunting is

What I meant was the movement over the past 10-15 years away from anything decidedly "masculine", that these activities are "bad", etc. I don't know if that explains it; oh, well. Greg W

  6. How is the Tacoma extended cab for leg room (I'm 6'-2" w/creaky knees)? I have thought about the Toyota, either Tacoma or ForeRunner, but don't have any experience driving them and hear various reports on the V-6. Mileage on the Silverado is better now that they have the injected Vortec engine, still about 18mpg.

  8. There's no place for name-calling during a time or remembrance and mourning, butt-guzzler. It wasn't my avatar, but a friend who was kind and good-natured. Here's to you, DP
  9. He wasn't with us long, so few of you knew him. I remember the last thing ol' DK said to me the last time I saw him: "There should be more fights at the crags. Where's the f'ing beers dude?" He will be missed. Greg W
  10. Point taken RumR, I think it is the lack of tact that Mr. Chips displayed towards Anna's experience. It's obvious she's a bit shaken, no need to be an asshole in your response. Highlander's post regarding downclimbing is a good one that no one has mentioned, especially given the route. Which was Saber (5.4) on Castle Rock, I do believe. Greg W
  11. Mr. Chips - STFU. I agree with Lambone (someone getting this down? ), with the exception that these skills can be imparted by a skilled partner as well. I learned (and still do) from my partners and from reading books and putting that info. into use. Use the off-season to educate yourself as much as possible; both of John Long's books on climbing anchors are excellent tools to have on your shelf. Greg W

    Gun Control

Because taking away guns is more paramount to him, not punishing criminals (the presence of guns made them commit crimes, it wasn't their fault). Everyone is a victim to politicians (and idealogues) like Glendenning, even the criminals. Furthermore, enforcement of current laws might just work in reducing crime (it will), and then he would not be able to raise an emotional groundswell to back his gun control schemes.

In the instances that we have climbed or hung out together I have found you a pretty mellow, laidback guy. This sudden derisive aggressiveness is not like you at all. Greg W

[/QB] I was directly addressing the Col.'s actions, honey. In my brief interactions with him, he seems like a law-abiding type dude. For a Subaru, I would suggest a 9mm which rests quite handily underneath the driver's seat and is easily accessible; or so I've heard . Greg W

    Gun Control

quote: Originally posted by Dr Flash Amazing: Good troll, though, Greg. Not a troll. What you fail to understand is that this is the stance of most gun-haters/gun-controllers: take away the guns and everything will be okay, make more laws, don't enforce what's on the books. Making more gun control laws gets more press than actually enforcing existing laws. THAT was my point. Parris Glendening is at the top of the heap when it comes to gun control advocacy; if he cared about gun crime why doesn't he enforce the laws on the books? He wants to take guns out of the hands of Maryland's citizens. Greg W

    Anyone Got...

any of those TPS Report cover sheets we're supposed to be using? I'm preparing two TPS Reports right now, they have to go out today, and I'm out of cover sheets. I don't want to send them out without the cover sheet because I don't want anyone thinking I didn't get the memo. Please Help. Greg W

    Gun Control

Let it be noted that I didn't start this thread, but saw this and couldn't resist. For those of you who believe that gun control will work, read this Article Maryland is one of the most restrictive states regarding gun ownership. Greg W

Was there a severed goat's head on your front lawn? Lot's of black candles on your porch? Just asking, I don't know anything...
