  1. He still lives in a castle part of the year. It's in Northern Italy (Sud Tirol).

  4. I was planning on steel. I kinda see the aluminums as a specialty item for going fast 'n' light on spring/summer trips, a la N. Ridge of Stuart, Forbidden, etc.
  5. Thanks for the input.

  7. quote: Originally posted by Toast: quote:Originally posted by Lambone: I could be tempted to instruct with some type of compensation other than $ ie. , perhaps we could do it before pub club sometime. The biggest question is where? I can open up my place in Fremont, and I'm happy to pitch in on beer and pizza. Now the question is when? I think Lambone was thinking about where to set gear anchors. Someone was talking about the UW Rock having some parallel-sided cracks; several options for all-cam anchors. However, I try and reserve my cams for leading.

  9. Sabertooth Clip What about the sabertooth clip-type binding? [ 11-07-2002, 02:54 PM: Message edited by: Greg W ]
  10. I am planning on buying my first pair of crampons in the near future and am looking for some insight on attachment systems. I am planning on using them for some moderate ice climbing and glacier slogging. Is a wire toebail preferred to a strap system or vice versa? I currently have a pair of plastics, but see where I am going to probably buy a pair of leathers for warmer season stuff. TIA Greg W

Your description sounds like a Washington State politician (or any, I guess). Nice forecast, you ought to be able to pull in about $100 large for that. [ 11-07-2002, 10:40 AM: Message edited by: Greg W ]

  19. quote: Originally posted by allison: I don't think the transit thing has gone at all smooth since the voters approved it in 1998, but the fact of the matter is, the thing is going to cost more than initial projections. The same thing will happen with the Monorail. Double the price is a bit too much. They could solve this problem through the bidding process: Hard bids from contractors with a strictly defined scope of work. This happens all the time in private contracting and it works; projects actually get done on time, too. The "low-bid" rule is a scam; contractors bid low knowing what change orders they can get away with during the project and they bid accordingly. Greg W

I think TTT said something about the Republicans in Washington State. I have to say that I am not too impressed with those that call themselves Republicans here. I think they are a bunch of milk-toast pussies who are afraid to put it out there and stand up for something. Greg W

The definitive example of this would have to be the Continental Army. At guerrilla warfare, the Continentals were very successful; however, when they faced the British on the battlefield they were at a disadvantage.

  25. Anyone want to do some aid climbing this fall/winter, let me know. I'd like to hone my skills since it's rainy. Greg W
