will. i would have to say that i agree with you. but i do differ on one point. this set precedence in teh PNW. it has moved the bolted TR into the mountains. sure it isn't far into the mountains, but it is a precident that i would rather we didn't take. it is that much easier for the next person to justify doing it somewhere else more touchy. i really couldn't give a shit about that area, but the precidence it is setting is not in character with the PNW scene IMHO.

damn! i just had the winning click to put us ahead of cincinatti! for me... except for the whole being at school thing.

isn't that kinda the point; that people will kill each other regardless of the impliments involved? oh and happy un-thanksgiving dru! It's more a reflection of a much lower incidence of murder-by-firearm. Since a lower proportion of murders are committed using guns, it's inevitable that the proportion involving "other" weapons will be higher, be they knives or baseball bats or poison-tipped arrows or whatever else was handy at the time. But I think you'll also find that Canadians are far less likely to kill one another overall than are Americans, regardless of method used. I don't have a ready explanation for that one, but I expect the Fraser Institute can find a way to portray our lower murder rates as further proof of the inferiority of our criminal justice system and the moral corruption of our political structures. Either that, or they'll ignore it altogether because it doesn't further their agenda. but if the violence is the same with or without... then it doesn't really matter does it? seems like anyone who kills someone else is pretty much psycho and will do it with a knife or a spoon if they have to. HEy Scottywad, you try to kill me with a spoon I'll kick your Get a clue ! A gun is much easier to kill with thana spoon -j obviously you are missing the point ace.

My response is this: you're a lame fuck for trying to hitch bullshit politics to the Thanksgiving holiday. Pretty much the same way it's lame that displaying the flag has been conflated with being a right wing tool. If you can't manage to wish a happy holiday without pushing your political views at the same time, then its not a holiday here... so i'm gonna keep on the keepin' on aight?

bull shit! right-wing fucking conspiracy! cdc... i take everything they say with a grain of salt cause it always makes my points look weak and tends to go against my parties 'core beliefs.' right wing fasctists!

yeah... sure... but if they get shot, who cares? Ooops, sorry, I wasn't arguing this point. I am with you there - if they get shot in the field of battle, well, that is the risks of doing that job. Of course, I can't say I agree with the rest of your analysis, but I don't think we will ever agree on the role and contributions of media! Off to a meeting... isn't that what everyone here is arguing?!?!
-
yeah... sure... but if they get shot, who cares? journalism is a flawed genre. people who have little historical background or military training are supposed to understand and write about what is going on? c'mon. people study minute pieces of history for their entire lives and you are gonna tell me some goofball can understand the whole scenario, sum it up in 800 words and not lose anything in translation? there is no way they can understand what is going on without the background or the technical expertise. also, you think that has only happened once, and in antiquity? try jason blair. same paper, same deal, except blair's news didn't cover up the killing of 5-10 million ukranians. history is littered with blatent examples and every paper you pick up is laden with more subtle ones. i dont trust them and i am not gonna blame my soldiers when they get shot in the ass runnign after glory.

Well, "making policy" is YOUR opinion on why reporters are there. Not necessarily true of all reporters, or even most of them. Most would probably laugh at that statement - you ever see how most of them live and their salaries? I wouldn't disagree if you you included in your statement instead "media owners want to make policy and that is why they are there", but that is a different argument, and no media baron has died, or will die, in Iraq. Just like how none of the senior US forces commanders (like the President, and the civvies in the Dod), who also make policy, will ever die in Iraq. The only ones dying in Iraq are powerless (when it comes to policy-making, I mean) servicemen and reporters (and I am not talking about network anchors...they don't die either...I am talking about the AP stringer, or the photog with AP-France). Good discussion with no personal attacks!! What will cc.com think of next? [Enter at stage left the enraged sprayer] you dont ahve a fucking clue about journalism. sure the media owners have a slant, but so too do the journalists. likely they are in opposing positions. nwes is all fucking bunk anyways. if you wanna really look athte media... google the ukranian massacre and a certain new york times 'journalists'... never heard of it? what if you knew that more ukranians were starved to death than jews were killed by hitler. and do you hear about that? journalism is garbage pure and simple.
