God forbid that any tourons might see a real rock climber climbing a rock! It might scare them so much that they have a heart attack! Rock climbers are scary! There are literally HUNDREDS of heart attacks at Devils Tower and Yosemite every year induced by tourons seeing a rock climber climb a rock.

Do you think when Ed Abbey was living in a trailer there in the early 60's before they paved the road, that anyone cared if you climbed Delicate Arch? Of course back then they couldn't free solo 5.10 so they probably would have bolted and chipped an uberdirectissima like Ottos Route.

Do you think Alain Robert's illegal climbing of buildings, and multiple arrests, is going to make it harder for the rest of us to go buildering? Do you think Chongo's arrest in Yosemite makes it harder for other climbers to guerilla camp in Yos for months at a time? It seems like when you go through the old AAJs there are a lot more parks open to climbing now that there were in the 70s and that it was sometimes very public acts of illegal climbing as a protest that got the regs changed.
