in 96 they paid rangers to patrol and kick out climbers
  3. You know if you walk across it instead of handrailing it it's 5.4 right?
  4. something stinks with that idear
  5. if i was you i'd be more concerned about scientists growing nutz on your chin
  6. i shouldn't say BC Parks removed all the tat stations. Just on the heavily used rap routes. you can still find the odd webbing station for getting off obscure routes on rarely-visited spires
  7. chains are easier to replace when worn and to have multiple parties clip into and use at once than rap ring stations such as Lucky shows and offer more opportunities for belaying and rappelling safely in ledgy alpine terrain. whatever is used, chains or ring stations, is far better than tat. experience and professional biologists advice in the Bugaboos led BC Parks to remove all tat stations in favor of fixed chains. they are not only safer, but better for wildlife - marmots and other snafflehounds like pack rats chew nylon but get no nourishment from it and prolific wads of webbing and cord lead over time to measurable increases in rodent mortality.
  8. I think bolt-and-tat rap stations should be replaced by bolts and stainless chains.
  9. hello sexy dino costume you buy rolex replica viagra?
  10. OMG. Obviously, they should be economists. Preferably Austrian school.
  11. Coming from Squamish where a route's not considered scrubbed until it's a buffed white path ten to fifteeen feet wide, all those patches of moss that are left, even if they are on spots that don't get used for the climb, look kinda strange... moss makes more moss
  12. it is easy, and that was slow little marc set the pace back in july
  13. Another to-the-top option is to make a diagonal rappel from the base of p9, which is the closest point, onto the adjacent SOMWOW and climb out to the west ridge via that route. I think it's about 30-40m
  14. bacon rock definitely seems marbled with mediocrity, but if'n it's the only game in town then everyone will play it right?
  15. left car 3:30 am, summited 4:30 pm, tag teamed rappels down gully, started crossover traverse near sundown, took wrong gully and spent an hour downclimbing some of the worst steepest loosest scree around, bivied at low col between parkes and fraser tower not long thereafter with running water nearby. got up the next morning and back to car before noon - slowed last 3 hrs by dug's sprained ankle. route details: there are at least two stuck cams, gave both a brief jiggle but the route was too crowded to spend much time working on extracting either one definitely worth bringing a helmet

  17. Trip: Slesse - NE Buttress Date: 9/11/2013 Trip Report: It's a zoo up there. There were 11 people on the route (including our party of 3) Wednesday, a couple more Thursday, a couple more Friday and a few yesterday. Weather's coming in today, that might be it for the year... Gear Notes: double 60m ropes, gear from small wires to 3" cam Can get water from base of east face (but don't trust the quality, poop from the bivi ledge lands here!) and then not again until Crossover or partway down the Slesse descent so bring a lot. 2L was not quite enough. Approach Notes: Need high clearance at minimum but maybe not 4wd to get to Nesakwatch trailhead via Propellor Cairn and thru notch. Bypass Gl has mostly (99.9%) slid. No need for anything but approach shoes. Walkoff via Chossover Pass, a couple short rappels can be avoided by insecure traverses or scree downclimbing
  18. splitter used to describe anything but a smooth sided crack
  19. "8a has been promoting a personal grade for Denali for some time and we think that this CNN story will be helping more climbers to did offering their own perspective on inflated summit elevations in future"
