let's say i go to do some bouldering at the "Talus pile" boulders (oops I shouldnt have mentioned a secret area??) and no one else is there, that's 100% female climbing presence... Go to Tuolomne Meadows and learn on that friendly fun granite. That's where I learned to climb traditionally. It's not too hard to hook up with partners in the Valley too. City of Rocks is good too. I don't recommend sandstone as a good start as far as learning is concerned. Let's see if these smiley things work!?

... umm Im kinda embarassed to ask this cause I will have to explain why. But, can any of you recommend a "pee funnel" and where to buy one? It looks like I will be going ice climbing in Canada after Christmas, and I guess it will be pretty cold. I have gone winter camping and skiing before, and I have tried and tried to learn how to pee into a ziplock in my sleeping bag without the funnel, but... well, lets just say there are drip issues. So I want to try one of the funnels but don't know where you get them. Does REI carry them? I didn't see "pee funnel" in the catalogue.

I have been doing some research and decided I want to climb in Canada in the next month or so, when not investigating Banks Lake or other spots out east here. I am not very experienced and don't have any ice protection. What kind of ice screws work best? I could use some feedback. Thank you,Daisy
