Alright, gregw, your turn. Now kiss him back.

Hey Jon, fix your UBBCode tag. It's messing with your sig.
-
And I bet you packed on a few pounds too, didn't ya?
-
But he also doesn't want a heart attack before he goes on the trip, people. Contrary to commonly-held myths, carrots are quite fattening. If you switch to a diet of carrots, I do believe you will bloat quite nicely, saving yourself a heart-attack in the process.

"Most Indian tribes seem to know the sensibilities of the white population well enough to play them like a harp". I'm sooooo sick of being played like a harp! All the Indians ever do is play us, man. We've been sooooo worked by them, and I'm personally tired tired tired. It's time to get the Indian off the white man's back! Don't you think so, JayB?

Jeesus, people, I have an opinion on this too, you know.
-
Cool. Seems like a decent choice to me. Props on the FA, by the way.
-
I bet you could find a '93 with only a 100 grand on it for that price....

No man, don't do it, unless you like getting corn-holed. And if you do, I swear I can get you corn-holed for cheaper than $6,500. That's an expensive corn-holing, which means they better be good. Did you ask them? Do they have experience in the corn-holing business? Ok, here's the deal: I'll corn-hole you for only $3,250. That's a half-price corn-holing. And let me tell you: When I'm corn-holing, corn is flying EVERYwhere, man. There'll be enough corn flying to feed all of Mexico, man. Vicente won't have to suck on GW's dick no more. Shit, I'll erase Nebraska off the US map! Get locked into your futures now, cuz the corn's gonna be flying! And hey, if you're wanting references, check with cptcaveman. I corn-holed him real good, and he loved it!

Dang man. ENFP. What the hell? The questions are so loaded, aren't they? I felt like I was being manipulated into answering a certain way, man. And then only two choices? Shit, I can't DO that, man, no matter WHAT the man says. Gimme more choices, man, more choices. I can't SURVIVE on just two choices, man. BTW, I read someone's comment about astrology. I think decent astrology gives some decent archetypal templates for describing the behavioural tendencies of the peeps, yo. As such, it can be just as accurate, or more so, than any personality test. Hey, but keep in mind, this is just my $.02 here, so don't take it personally, yo?

I don't think he was necessarily fishing for retrosaurus's take, I think he simply meant retrobolting???? Headspace, how hard is this section, and how far behind you is the last bomber pro? Are you sure only a slider would work? Part of the fun of climbing sometimes is figuring out how to get pro in. Think: grit in Britain. There are many different styles of climbing, and I truly truly believe that not all climbs should be made into oversimplified lowest common denominator clip-ups. If you already climbed it in a particular style, why would you want to change it for those that will try in the future? If you're worried about safety, well, climbing is inherently dangerous, and for many, that's part of the appeal! Let others decide if they are up for the challenge. That's my $.02.

conditioning: crack vs. face climbing
sexual_chocolate replied to Uncle_Tricky's topic in Climber's Board
I'd say that from a conditioning viewpoint, sportclimbing would contribute more towards trad climbing than vice-versa. Trad climbing is not nearly as fore-arm specific, for the most part. It seems that a good sport climber quickly will adapt to trad (if the motivation is there), but the inverse is hardly true, from what I've witnessed. There's quite a difference in what I've led, rating-wise, between sport and trad, but I think that's mainly due to my passion for sport climbing. I think if I concentrated on trad for a while, I'd do pretty well, but I just have no desire. Too messy, too bloody, too painful, etc.. In terms of grade, it's about a number and a half difference, maybe two. I hardly ever top-rope. I just find my concentration is lacking. I don't enjoy climbing with a rope above me. -
I hear what you're saying, Greg, and yes, it happens. It just seems to be a necessary evolutionary by-product of capitalism; a reaction to the excessive powers of industrial hegemony. I think this much is inarguably true when viewed within its historical context, don't you think?

Nein. I don't know that LP. This one's entitled Thelonius Sphere Monk Monk's Blues
-
Hey, check out anything before his White House performance. I especially like Thelonius Himself, just him and a piano. There's also this cool big-band affair, Thelonius Sphere Monk, Monk's Blues. So hip-hop, yet so punk!

quote: Originally posted by Dr Flash Amazing: What, you don't like Gang Starr? You obviously "have no regard for real hip-hop" as the GURU would say. Tsk tsk![/QB] Gang Starr is NOT hip-hop, man. He has so co-opted the medium for his own enrichment. Thelonius Monk is WAY more hip-hop than Gang Starr could ever hope to be.

I was actually referring to cash, dinero, dollars, bread, "the root of all evil". For it to serve as a medium of exchange, it HAS to exist in a limited quantity. Plus, your above equation has a strange problem- you correctly assert that glut lowers the value of a given commodity, but for that value to be restored, the amount of the commodity in the marketplace must lessen, or the demand must go up. You are assuming in your argument that demand will go up?

The theory that "there isn't enough to go around" is something created by those who wish to foment the 'class-warfare' debate to their benefit. There is no limit to wealth creation, there is no set amount of U.S. dollars that exists. Ah, so money DOES grow on trees! How new-age of you! Hey Greg, capitalism only exists because there IS a limited amount of the medium of exchange. When the medium of exchange gluts the system, it makes it worthless. Inflation. And right now, the medium of exchange is mainly in the hands (bank accounts, portfolios, assets) of a very select few, which doesn't create stability in any society, especially when the chips are down, as in the current recession. I'm very interested in where this is all gonna lead to. My guess is that it will follow an historic pattern: Mad economic growth, deregulation, amassment of the wealth in the hands of a few, followed by the inevitable crash, societal destabilization, mass unrest, followed by government intervention in the form of increased social program funding and regulatory behaviour.

BTW, your family isn't free-loading off you, are they? Hmmmm.... Put 'em to work!

quote: Originally posted by Greg W: My goals are to make money and enjoy life; I have positioned myself and made choices in my professional life to meet those ends. It's as simple as that. Don't like where you are or what you're doing? Only you can change it. Hey, I agree with personal responsibility. I agree with evaluating one's position in life, and making changes accordingly. I think it's also true that when people blame others for their situation, it tends to disempower said individual (Notice the word "blame"). But I also think that you are overlooking all the benefits you have received in your lifetime; the benefits of family, the benefits of education, the benefits of being in this country. If you can see these as being benefits, I wonder why you wouldn't be more inclined to want to share these benefits with others? Don't you think that others want education, stability, a decent income? My fear is that in a capitalist society, everyone is made into an enemy of each other, because capitalism necessarily commodifies resources, creating the appearance that there isn't enough to go around. Then we need to fight for a little slice of the pie, and when we get it, we become protective, and angry if anyone tries to take it away. Think about the insecurity in the US today. Recession; millions unemployed, with the ones lucky enough to have unemployment benefits fearing the end of them very soon; millions homeless; 50 million without health insurance? Almost a fifth of our population? And while this happens, the richest are enjoying tax-cuts? I don't think life needs to be a fight. But I'm afraid that's exactly what capitalism promotes.

As far as current worker protection legislation, that depends. I don't agree with the WISHA Ergonomics Guidelines that Gary Locke (Satan) is pushing. If you are unfairly fired, unions aren't your only recourse - if you have a good case, you can get a lawyer. And don't whine about not being able to afford it, there are plenty of advocacy groups who do pro bono work. Greg W Ok. Just trying to feel out your positions on things, since it's obviously quite easy to misunderstand each other here. So you are in favor of some government regulation of the business sector. Fair enough. Then the only disagreement would be as to how far gov should go. Do you think your income is indicative of general trends in the marketplace? 1 (one) does not a fair sized sample make.
